I 've been waiting for the longest of time to dine into this superb restaurant. And when an opportunity arose, I said yes without even blinking. Had to quickly find a babysitter and just head there. The deco is truly that of a starred restaurant. The food albeit being expensive was worthy every cent spent! The wine went so well with the food. And the service was pro. Why people expect to be smiled to when they go to... View all feedback.
What 3waltons doesn't like about Aux Pesked:
I would like to say that our meal here was outstanding, but I'm afraid I can only say it was good. A very dear French friend chose it for us as she knows we love fish and seafood. The menu was very complicated to understand and the food was okay, but nothing to rave about. The service was good. I don't think, however, that we would go again View all feedback.
In Pesked, at noon, chef Mathieu Aumont served us in person the menu offered at €32 with an entrance, a dish and a dessert. We spent a very pleasant time with a beautiful view. Scented meat, Cabillaud shells, Paimpol, peach juice and vanilla sorbet
The decor of this restaurant is very nice and overlooks the valley. We chose the special menu which was scallops three ways. Unfortunately, we did not realise that is was 3 plates of scallops by which time it was just too much scallops. These were not all tender. I would not recommend this dish. The dessert was nothing special. I have been to many Michelin restaurants but I would not return to this one. On a positive, you could not fault the service. We were the only diners there at lunchtime.
I was blown away by the quality of both the welcome and the cooking the last time we visited Aux Pesked. Dinner recently was still a good experience, but not flawless. Everything started well with two exceptional opening dishes, showing the artistry of the chef in choosing and using vegetables, fruits and herbs. Beautiful and satisfying. A Thai style broth accompanying our langoustines was very good and the shellfish themselves well cooked, but did they marry? We weren’t sure. John Dory was very slightly undercooked for our tastes and for me the coco beans accompanying it added nothing to the dish. The girolles, on the other hand, were a great match. Dessert was good. Wine a Corsican White very good. Madame was charming. Service was more mixed, with a longish wait between langoustines and John Dory. The room remains beautiful and the overall ambience good, with the presence of the chef a bonus. Sadly for the rest of the diners, a noisy English/Irish group of six felt we all needed to hear all of their conversations. No manners and not good ambassadors. No fault of the restaurant, of course. So a good experience, especially the starters, with clear evidence of real cooking skills throughout, but not quite a five star visit on this occasion.
A rare moment in four hundred plus reviews: I want to award a 6. On the basis of a lunch here in May 2018, ‘excellent’ isn’t quite saying enough. In a delightful room, with views that suggest the foothills of the Jura or the Pyrenees (hard to believe you’re so close to the busy road from Rennes to Brest), the food served was superlative. My wife tried the vegetarian menu, which was everything such menus usually aren’t imaginative, creative, beautiful, with a heavy emphasis on fresh ingredients. Other restaurants could learn a lot from this. My langoustine starter was as good as such things get, with a marriage made in heaven between the succulent flesh of the shellfish and the accompanying golden beetroot anda few other tantalising flavours as well. The John Dory that followed was very fine, again accompanied by perfectly complimentary seasonal vegetables and herbs, with some notable asparagus. Deserts (citron and fraise themes) were very good. Both our menus were 50 euros each, which made them a bargain; we could have added such things as sea urchin or veal on other menu choices with costs increasing accordingly. The wine list is superb, with many fine producers represented at all price ranges. A Richou Anjou blanc at 40 euros for a 50cl bottle was a good choice. Service was excellent. Tables well spaced. The music low and unobtrusive. We’ll be back, hopefully many times.
Beautiful setting and lovely decor. Very disappointed in the menu. I thought the selection was very limited and they wanted you to choose entree and main or entree main and dessert. You need to be prepared for a large bill.
