I wanted to share how very special the front desk staff made us feel upon entering the hotel. Alfredo, Angel, and Victoria went above and beyond to make our check in and stay incredible for our anniversary weekend. They answered all of our questions, gave us tips and when there was a rush of guests with a wedding, and a ball game, they were patient with all the guests and gave everyone the attention that they needed.... What D Y doesn't like about Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego:
Hotel is fine. Its old, the carpet and beds are worn out, the parking elevator barely works. The real issue here though, is the destination charges. $42 per night, regardless if you use the ammenities or not. We never once used the pool, weight room, or any other service, but are still forced to pay this ridiculous fee. Just another example of corporate greed. Ammenities should be charged on a use basis, not making e... View all feedback.
The good Great location, wonderful staff, no issues with the room. Would defiantly recommend EXCEPT.... Now for the bad..... Instead of being able to relax by the pool they have a DJ blasting music at a deafening volume. Okay so maybe it was for a few hours. Asked at the front desk if the DJ would be there the next day, was told no. WRONG More DJs and and more deafening loud music. The really sad part is the speakers are at the kids side of the pool with the speakers being just 10 feet away. The manager that arranged for this should be fired. And the hotel has a sign, NO LOUD MUSIC. Other complaint is the with the pool towel vending machine. You use your card key to get a towel. But then machine has an ERROR Lost connection to server. Unplug and plug in again to fix. Called front desk to report issue and to get towels. Waited 30 mins for the person who was coming right up with towels. No show. Had to go back to room and get bath towels. Day 2 Towel machine still not working. Day 3 Towel machine still not working. Day 4 Towel machine still not working. Day 5 Towel machine still not working. Sign appeared on the machine saying it's not working. Really disappointing. Hyatt Get your act together. Get rid of pool side DJs. Hyatt
Beware of the elevators they’re like condo elevators where it goes by floor and then you swipe and it will assign you to a specific elevator. Elevators take forever and are often very crowded because of conference people. Thousands of people vying for 5 elevators. Service is EXCELLENT! Waitress at the Top Hyatt is very helpful and goes above and beyond. Rooms are very clean and modern. This hotel is at a very great location close to lots of restaurant and short drive to the beaches and Balboa park. Rooftop pool reminds me of a resort very clean and safe. Lots to do they have a ball court, tennis court, and roof top cinema is really great (image and sound) customer service was amazing there. They makeup for the elevator inconvenience. Churros at the Top of the Hyatt is best I’ve had highly recommend.
GOOD: 1. Location: adjacent to waterfront, restaurants, shopping, and rail lines; not a resort by definition, but certainly seemed that way with everything available literally just outside every door. 2. Service: very friendly staff in all areas. 3. I stayed at this hotel for a large conference and the layout flows very well; super efficient and able to handle large crowds. 4. Fast elevators and several banks of escalators. 5. Great views from most rooms in any direction. 6. Beautiful hotel; grand, indeed. 7. Nice balance of indoor and outdoor spaces. —— CAUTIONS: 1. A bit of a learning curve with the “smart” elevators. A keycard is required to use and the floor is chosen before entering. So if you board with strangers and failed to “schedule” your floor, you can enjoy the ride, but you will not be stopping at your floor. In addition, a portion of the pre-board, touch-screen kiosk has incorrectly labeled floor numbers as “rooms,” which confused me a bit. After leaning the quirks, it’s pretty easy to navigate, but any non-techy person may find themself getting exercise on the fire escape. 2. I suspect room remodels are done on a rotating basis at a hotel of this size. My room happened to show a few signs of wear. Nothing terrible, just steamy wallpaper starting to peel in the bathroom and mirror backing starting to peel in the corners (reverting the mirror into plain glass). 3. Shower head a bit crusty (mineral buildup); that surprised me at a hotel of this caliber. Room was very clean, otherwise. —— SUMMARY: Based on three night stay; cannot comment on restaurants as I did not visit; cannot comment on price as I did not pay personally; overall, I was impressed with the efficient layout, staff friendliness, and fabulous location. Highly recommended.
Generally a good hotel! The interior of the room has been a bit old.. not what you would expect for the price. Location of it is really great though!
I had a good stay at this hotel. I'm not sure it was worth the price, though. My room wasn't too bad. I had the city view room. Although, the bathroom shower was not clean. The front desk staff made up for it, and I am appreciative. The gym is a nice size with Peloton equipment available. I had breakfast on my last day there. There are plenty of options for non vegans, but if you're vegan, like me, you're left to eat fruit. The tab was $42 for one. I did not leave a tip because the server didn't check on me but chatted it up with other tables around me. Please note that you will have to pay daily for parking or valet parking, but you are able to have in and out privileges. It's a pretty big hotel with a pool too. A bird friend came by on my last night
