Contribute FeedbackThe Feversham Arms, while boasting an appealing atmosphere and exceptional food, has fallen short in service consistency and management oversight. Patrons have reported experiences of poor service, including long waits for drinks and a lack of attention to dietary restrictions, leading to concerning safety oversights. Although the culinary offerings, particularly the table d’hôte menu, have earned acclaim, the front-of-house staff appears to need more training to match the kitchen's high standards. Guests have expressed frustration over erratic experiences, indicating that the venue's potential is undermined by deeper management issues, overshadowing its charm and quality.
My friends and I visited the Feversham Arms in August and were extremely disappointed with the level of service we received. We even reached out to the manager about our experience, but received no response. I would not recommend this restaurant. 1) The service was very poor, as we had to repeatedly ask for drinks and were not offered the wine pairing/menu as requested. 2) We all ordered the taster menu, but the dishes were not properly explained to us and were simply placed in front of us. 3) Despite informing the waiter of my severe nut allergy, I was still served a dessert with hazelnuts and hazelnut ice cream. Thankfully, I caught the mistake in time, but it was a potentially dangerous oversight. 4) To make matters worse, we were undercharged for our meal and the staff chased us down the street to demand an additional £100 payment. This was incredibly embarrassing and unprofessional, as the error was on their part.
We enjoyed a three-course dinner at this restaurant. The cost was £64 per person, but it was definitely worth it. I started with sea trout, followed by lamb, both of which were delicious. My wife had a chicken terrine for her starter and halibut for her main, and she enjoyed both dishes. For dessert, my wife had a cloutie dumpling which was very filling, and I had a raspberry parfait with honey and whiskey. The flavors were interesting, but I managed to finish it. All the dishes were beautifully presented, and it was nice to see the chef experimenting with unique combinations without going too far.
I am reviewing the £64 three-course table d'hôte menu at this restaurant. The food we enjoyed was exceptional in quality and presentation, earning the restaurant its well-deserved two AA Rosettes. However, the front of house staff, including the reception team, could benefit from additional training in order to match the high standard set by the kitchen. Despite this, I highly recommend this restaurant to food enthusiasts.
One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Lovely warm welcome Great choice at each course (including an entirely separate vegetarian menu) Every dish was outstanding The service was attentive, friendly and professional Really cannot fault anything. We will be back! Thank you
Not good enough ! Four of us looked forward to a high quality experience— service, food and immaculate professional standards—— none of these were achieved. With the only choice offered a £64 a head 3 course with 5 or 6 choices for each section. We were not warmly welcomed nor asked if we would like to sit in the lounge for a pre meal drink but simply shown to the acceptable table . On the side we were given a muse bouche and our options were taken correctly. Our starters were satisfactory without being outstanding—— partridge was tough but others no complaints except the waiter did not no the correct etiquette of how to each diner without leaning across guests. We all have experience of visiting top end restaurants and know ‘ Michelin style standards expected. Only 2 of our 4 different main courses were good enough. The venison was a disgrace ! It was barely ‘ starter ‘ size and parsimonious in the extreme with accompaniments. The cod loin was barely warm and lacked quality complements. When we came to desserts staff gave us 2 different menus , 1 saying supplements were charged for cheese ! this option came ready plated with grapes and celery which were not fresh and the tiniest of slivers of cheese we couldn’t believe. Re value for money it was terrible, very disappointing and we will not be returning or recommending to all our extensive family and friends.
