Just a quick visit as passing through. Pub is very nice inside with a good ambience. Our meal was nice, I had Salmon that was nicely cooked with vegetables. What seemed odd was that one of the veggies served was large pieces of green pepper that weren't even cooked enough. Other than that it was fine. View all feedback.
What TheManInTheKnow doesn't like about The Crown Inn:
Nowt special, but ok. Well looked after ... Food very average but there was a something for everyone menu. Yes, it 's in a convenient location and we would go again, but knowing that the food is ok without being outstanding. View all feedback.
The prices are good, the food very average, I had the Beef which was fine, my partner had the Pork which was tough has old boots, not enough potatoes 2 each? the sweets are good, would we come again? maybe not.......
Duck!!!!…..mind the beam between the dining area and the bar! I had roast pork that came with the usual accompaniments washed down with an Oakham ales Citra. My friend had the vegetarian option,a mushroom wellington. Everything was hot and tasty, a decent Sunday lunch, with good service
Soup in cold dish. Bread roll rock hard. Tagliatelle pretty tasteless and on cold plate. Pie covered in gravy making the crust soggy!! Do not serve hot food on cold plates. Service was excellent but was let down by the kitchen. Dissapointed
Very good value high quality food. The lamb dish was a definite highlight, accompanied by a delicious goats cheese croquette. I would have preferred to sit in the bar area which is very characterful. The restaurant is pleasant and modern though. We will be back.
When we arrived we were given a menu that was nothing like the menu online, upon ordering we were told they were working to a very limited menu that day, there were no specials. Lasagne was the worst I've ever had with a salad soaked in dressing making that inedible as well, 2 of us had this and we both left it. My husband had the Hunters chicken that was dry and like cardboard, covered in a sickly sauce. We went a month ago and the meal was fantastic, what a complete opposite experience. When we were asked if the meal was OK we said that the lasagne was terrible, we were told that there wasn't a chef there today, and the person cooking was following the chefs recipe as closely as possible!! We had booked this 2 weeks in advance and feel that we should have been informed there was no chef. We were not offered an apology, any discount or compensation for the meals that were left. We will not be returning, very disappointed.
