Sammie's - Round Lake

I grew up on the North West side by Portage Pk. and we used to ride our bikes to Sammies little stand to buy Gravy Bread for a quarter. It was French bread dipped in the beef juice it was cheap and we loved it. But when your talking HOT DOGS I might be partial but Sammie 's WINS HANDS DOWN! Other joints might have hand cut fries but Sammie 's adds an extra condiment that as far as I know no one else adds, no it 's NOT KETCHUP. Along with the usual mustard, onions, bright green relish, tomatoes, pickle, sport peppers and celery salt on a poppy seed bun Sammie 's adds fresh cucumbers and believe me it makes all the difference in the world. Sammie 's is no longer in the city and that 's fine cause neither am I so they have several locations that I can still enjoy their dogs at. Give one a try, you 'll see the difference. I have only had this place twice but both times were excellent. The service, food and cleanliness of the establishment.

Some of the best sandwiches in Lake County. The serving sizes are more than generous. If you are a light eater, two people can easily share a meal.

I go here frequently. Love this place. The cook is legendary. Ialways get a bacon burger with cheese, but they don't like it when we call it the Sammie Burger, even though that's what is advertised. Still great though. The women staff are always very beautiful and kind. The place is well designed, cozy yet spacious. I can't say enough about this place.

Food is good but has gotten expensive in the last month and understand that Food costs have gone up but you are officially over priced ladies and gentlemen fratello's up in Volo is much better priced!!
