We tried this place during Restaurant Week, having read many very good reviews. The food was great, and of course during Restaurant Week you get a great value for the money. Service was friendly and attentive; the decor was pretty bland, dark and woody... but we are there to eat, after all, and the food was fresh, tasty and well prepared. Overall a very nice experience. Love this village option with outdoor rooftop dining. The food is delicious with fresh ingredients and fabulous cocktails. Great for large parties, families and couples. There is valet parking on busier nights. The lunch menu has a great frittata offerings along with daily lunch specials. Definitely get the meatballs and the pita with 3 dips to start. Would love to try the whole pig one day for a party. Service is attentive without being intrusive.
Went here for dinner on a quiet Monday night and sat at the bar. First of all, it 's worth pointing out that this is a fancy Greek restaurant, meaning that the dishes are more Greek inspired than traditional. So it 's different from home-cooked Greek food, or even Greek food that you 'd get in most restaurants in Greece. If you want the latter, go to a different restaurant in Astoria. This place is more like an up-scale restaurant in a major Greek city, with Greek food interpreted in a more Western way. This approach can fail terribly, but MP Taverna managed to pull it off. We had the Octopus, Grandma 's Meatballs, and Zucchini fritters as starters. The Octopus was very soft, but the portion was small. The other two starters were both excellent and very light and fluffy. These were all recognisably Greek inspired. For a main we shared the sausage and dumplings with fries on the side and a tomato salad. All were excellent. My only quibble was that everything had quite a lot of salt in it. I ended up drinking a litre of water when I got home: I was that thirsty. Prices were reasonable. I like the fact that the restaurant has craft beers on tap, but the menu isn 't up to date on what 's available and this wasn 't clarified by the bar man. It would help is there was a blackboard with the current available beers. It seemed as though there were more taps than beers, which is a pity. The restaurant itself is elegant and pleasant. The only thing I didn 't like was the TV. Why have TV? It 's distracting and cheapens the atmosphere. This isn 't a sport 's bar.
Love this place, this is my second time and I will definitely be back again. Had the sea bass the first time and the stuffed sea bass the second time. Great service, very quick and polite. It is located in Roslyn, there isn't much parking except for the street. There used to be a parking lot here but condos were built next door so no more. Anyway definitely recommend this authentic Greek restaurant. The Chef here is professional and has a book out right now too.
First time visiting MP Taverna. Had the lamb burger which was excellent. The menu is not over complicated mostly grilled items with a Greek slant. Wine selection is OK. The beer selection is eclectic. Prices are reasonable. The space is nice with a large bar on the first floor. Will return
