Poor Man's Country Club - Rockport

Upside: Food good, reasonable, decent menu options, drinks strong, good decor. Downside: Wish service was better. Comments: Review based on a culinary experience, would go back here and recommend.

This is a great place to hang out after a day of fishing. The waiting service was great. The beer is cold. We only have appetizers, but they were delicious. The fried items were NOT greasy. Everything seemed fresh. I'm glad we stopped.

Rebecca was very friendly and communicative, but had terrible service. We waited for food, drinks, appetizers, check. After we were there for 45 minutes, we had no refills on our drinks and had on them 30 minutes after waiting 15 to bring our drink. Then when it was time for the check, we waited for her to bring it up until my partner had to get up and she called us, she couldn't bring it to us when my partner saw that she was talking to a bunch of people on the line. She told us she was on the phone with the GM when obviously she was just messing with colleagues.

The stuffed jalapeños were delicious and the service was good. However, if I want to pay $20 for a fried shrimp plate, they must be deveined! My self and my children had lunch, cost me $115 before the tip, including the fee I paid for the payment (with a card). Maybe they mean that the owners are poor cuz the customers better not be...

Simple menu, good food. Smoking was allowed at the bar so that was a not so pleasant surprise. Bread pudding made up for the fact that the burger was $15. Bring cash or there is a surcharge.
