Poblanos Mexican Grill - Rochester

The food and ambiance at this restaurant were fantastic! We traveled from Newburgh, IN (a 5-hour drive) to South Bend for a football tournament and were on the lookout for Mexican restaurants.

The burgers and fries at this restaurant are fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the service is prompt. The cocktails are great, and the bartender is excellent!

This was my second time visiting this restaurant and once again the wait staff informed me they were closed when I tried to order food, even though the dining room was full of people. The first time it happened while I was at the bar. I had ordered the smoked wings appetizer and after finishing them, I tried to order more food only to be told the kitchen was closed without any warning. On my most recent visit, I heard the server taking an order just before informing me they were closed before I could even sit down. I arrived at 7:45, even though the hours listed they were open until 10pm. The smoked wings were only average in taste.

Is it possible to give a place negative stars? Apparently so. This restaurant must be making a killing to treat their customers with such disregard, especially in a small town where word travels fast. I ordered a meal with 3 items, but only received 2. After calling to complain, I was offered an apology and a promise of a free meal. However, on my next visit, I was informed that I would only receive the missing item if I purchased another full meal. I tried to negotiate, explaining that I didn't need 2 of the missing item at once and offering to pay for the new meal minus the cost of the missing product. But the owner refused. Essentially, I paid for a meal that was not delivered in full, making me feel cheated twice. It seems that money is more important to this restaurant than customer satisfaction.

Dining at this restaurant was a pleasant experience. The price per person ranged from $30 to $50, making it a moderate dining option. The food was rated a 4 out of 5, indicating that it was satisfying but not exceptional. The service, on the other hand, received a high score of 5 for being attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was also rated a 4, contributing to an overall enjoyable dining experience.
