eating here was good, even good. but more like the kind of good they would expect at any old caffe in a middle city, not the kind they are $15 for. it is also not as if the atmosphere or the service is exceptional. I might have given four stars if the prices were not so high, served disproportionately to the quality of the meals. the gumboot cafe next door serves similar quality food for less. I also had a kind of beet and kicherbsenburger with an salat and avocado. they were very generous with the avocado! we had a special suppe of the day with jan, ingwer and erdnuss. I think they're making their own broth or getting it out of the bakery. Anyway, the brot was great and they delivered vegan butter! we also had a delicious creamy and crispy peanut butter ball, which was obviously vegan. I can't wait to get back! the vibe is bohemian and cozy, everyone is welcome and there is plenty of space between the tables. they have made a special effort to sanitate the table before we sit down.
Their suppers are always vegan and delicious; the dal is my favorite. they also have delicious vegan tasty and desserts and occasionally a vegan pizza option. good coffee. great atmosphere and cool music. an iconic destination of the sunshine coast.
We stopped for lunch, not knowing what to expect, and we were not disappointed. the cale salat was fantastic, although on the small side for the large portion. we also had the dahl, great, and the vegan-salted caramelable that was really good. many picnic tables outside and also inside seats. highly recommended. updated by previous review on 2021-08-05
Had a lot of vegan baked were, menu item including suppe with brot and vegan butter. delicious coffee and a cool atmosphere
Always a treat to stop by the gumboot. Had the beet cake topped with hummus and avocado and lentil Dahl. So freaking good. They have the best espresso, lovely front and back patio and it’s super cozy inside. Always a good assortment of vegan desserts too.
