The Upper Crust Sandwich Shoppe

This place is easily one of Riverside's biggest secrets. The Upper Crust offers incredible homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts 7 days a week. I had the pastrami sandwich on a french roll with potato salad and carrot sticks. I wasn't sure if I'dlike the potato salad since I'm not typically a fan and the owner didn't hesitate to offer me a sample to see if I liked it. Itook a bite and was wowed by how delicious it was! It was fantastic, and that's saying a lot coming from me. They then told methey make it in-house fresh daily, along with the french rolls and other goodies. While I waited I chatted with the people whorun the place and discovered they've been serving up sandwiches here for 20 years! When my sandwich came out it was presentedbeautifully, and served with a smile. The pastrami itself was hot, juicy and full of flavor. The french roll was unexpectedlysoft, fluffy and melded to the meat with melted cheese. Everything I had here oozed with tender love and care and the peopleinside were great. I can't wait to come back tomorrow after the Mission Inn and try more of their scrumptious sandwiches!

Been here a few times always fresh yummy. Customer service is great as well, if you're not sure what sandwich to have they always have a suggestion. And always ask about the special side they might have for the day. I've had yummy chili and tastysoups. And it's located in such a nice part of downtown Riverside.

For years I walked past this spot always meaning to try it, but I never actually went. That was until yesterday when I just need a break from a busy Saturday. The owner I think he was) was an absolute pleasure to speak with the entire staff was kind)and gave me the best recommendation to such a great tasting sandwich. The pastrami on a croissant with everything. Just a halfwas so filling and I was excited to have the rest for dinner. For something sweet I had their chocolate chip cookies that wereso lite. Definitely making that a weekly spot.

They said it would be the best pastrami of my life and they weren?t kidding! Great service, friendly staff, and reasonable prices! They did toast it when we asked not to, but a happy accident because it was delicious! Highly recommend! No picturesbecause I inhaled the food!

I love the small shop vibe. The sandwiches are really good, the potatoes salad is personally my favorite for some reason I always have to have the carrot sticks. Perfect combo
