The food was just awesome, the beer, the pork ribs, the spicy mussels, the desert. Waiters very polite, and not too overwhelming with their presence. The atmosphere, the design and the little mirrors in different places, were just small additional things that were very interesting to find, look at and overview. Tables could have been a bit longer as sitting a bit too close together is not the biggest issue issue is i... View all feedback.
What Jan Bergqvist doesn't like about Bon-vivant The Belgian Beer Cafe:
It is located in the old town of Riga. Drawn by good rating on Google maps, we chose this restaurant for our dinner. Asked if they served duck and was told they have it on the menu. After looking at the menu and asking where the duck is listed, the server said that they do not have duck. Well, we were hungry, so we ordered some fish and a stak and beer. Amazing place in old Town of Riga. Exterior of the restaurant is so so and if not recommendation we would never stopped by. But inside is great atmosphere and nice design. Food is simply delicious. Belgium beer on top is outstanding. Highly recommend.
A very tasty meal and friendly service. Great selection of beers and cool decor. My son gave the burger 6 out of 5 even though he removed most of the fillings. My husband was defeated by the 0.5m sausage. Go here you won't be disappointed!
The only place I know that serves different kinds of meter long sausages, which don’t just look impressive but also taste incredible, so was definitely the highlight of the night. I loved this dish on the menu with the way it’s served as the idea of sharing a meal by everyone at the table gives it a nice homely feel. We opted for the spicy and garlic flavour ones and none of us were disappointed with the dish. Another person in our party ordered the fish and chips which looked equally delicious. I wasn’t particularly wild about the “beer snacks” but that’s a personal preference. Their cheesecake is to die for too! Not just the taste but the size of it too! Not that I’m complaining, on the contrary! We shared one amongst 3 people and it was more than enough! The beers in this place are worth mentioning too. Can sneak up on you though so be mindful! Or at least try! P.S. Will be definitely returning to try their mussels- another dish this place is famous for!
Great food and fast and friendly service. The four of us came for a family lunch on a Sunday. We had smoked salmon salad, onion soup and spicy ramen for starters. And for mains we went for the burger and the fish and chips. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The burger was near perfect. And I note the great quality of the fries that come with it. The drinks were good too. I had the jasmine tea in a pot which was very good. Others mainly had beers and particularly liked the Belgian white beer and the French lager. The service was very attentive and efficient.

Waiting for almost 30 min, I had to ask why my drink has not been served, an other employee said that our server probably is telling jokes inside. After a long wait, dinner was served. Steak was quite dry and tough meat. Over cooked and not a true shatobrian. Expensive prices. The list of beer is very impressive and long, might be a good place to get drunk but not for a good dinner.
