The extra spicy soup actually wasn’t too hot. It was super tasty and I loved slurping the soup. Everything was so delicious. I especially liked the dumplings (two came in the pot) in the Dumpling Soon Tofu. The beef could have been more raw but it was still good. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu on Bayview:
Service is acceptable, place is OK, once in a while is fine. nothing special, spicy seafood tofu soup, bulgogi beef, stone bowl rice etc., side dishes is ok, not really excited to go back in weeks! View all feedback.
Everybody calm down: this place has the same menu and quality of the other Buk Chang Dong chain of restaurants. For those who don't know, this restaurant specializes in soon dooboo silken tofu soup. We tried two types: with Kimchi and with dumplings. Both were...delicious, as was the bulgogi which is Korean-style marinated BBQ beef. The banchan (side dishes) was fine too. Four side dishes came out with our meal, and we finished it all. If you ask for more, they'll be happy to give you more The staff are young people, so they may not be the most experienced, but they make up for it in friendliness and willingness to get you what you want. Only an idiot would expect fine dining service when the most expensive dish on the menu is You also get free barley tea, as much as you want, and free WiFi. So unless you have some kind of vendetta or agenda, I don't see how you can complain.
Pleased with my lunch experience, I brought my family here for dinner.
Be warn!!Stay away from this newly opened ' Buk Chong Dong Soon Tofu Korean Restaurant ' next to ' The Emperor ' at Bayview/Blackmoor, Richmond Hill!Do not be deceived by the fact that the place is full on the weekend - Food is just plain LOUSY and BAD!!Sad thing is, it was recommended by a couple of my wife's 'Korean' friends! The seafood tofu soup I had this lunch time was easily the worst dish I have had this year! This was so pathetic and sad tasting, I could cry! Broth was one dimensional and beyond bland. The so called 'seafood' component comprised of two stingy and tiny, head-on cooked North Sea sweet shrimp. ( a bag of 24 costing around $3 ), one New Zealand mussel on the half shell and one oyster meat, the size of a dime! The rest was silken tofu, which, thankfully, was passable. At $9 for this dish, plus a bowl of stone pot brown rice! I estimate cost wise... $2 max?! Wow! great profit margin and huge rip-off!Side dishes were mediocre and run-of-the-mill. Bulgogi Beef was sad looking and way too sweet! Service was down right slow! Our food arrived, pile up on a trolley next to our table and getting cold, but no one bother to serve us! When time for our bill, our waiter apologized for not writing our order down and asked us what we had, since he claimed he was too busy!I was so tempted to tell him, just write down...' lousy food '!For a restaurant to succeed, great location, food and service are of utmost important. Unfortunately, based on the obscure location, lousy food and ultra-slow service, I doubt they will last long!
This place serves mainly Korean stew with rice. Quite many selection of stew. Many of them has tofu. The pork bone soup and bibimbab are very good. Sevice is good too, we visited in weekends for lunch and was quite busy, but food came pretty...quick. This feels like a family run small restaurant serving authentic Korean stew with rice. They use the purple rice and served in a clay hot pot.
My family and I travel to the Greater Toronto Area on a regular basis and this place is one that we go to almost every trip. The food is very good. The variety of tofu stews that you can choose from is wide. They also...give you the stone cooked purple/white rice bowl to eat with your meal, the raw egg to cook inside of your stew and then the roasted rice at the end. Plenty of food, very tasty and well priced. The bonus of this place is that it tastes the same as the locations on Yonge St (New Korea town) and Bloor Street (old Korea town) but parking is easy and free!
