Lunch with friends, Fish and Chips Wednesday proved good value for money and was enjoyed in comfortable surroundings. Highly recommended. Service was a little slow but as retirees we are in no major hurry. View all feedback.
What Explorer88154 doesn't like about Spread Eagle:
Service is slow, drinks over priced. Food menu is bland. You choose Little secret. Spread Eagle deletes any negative feedback so only the positive is left leaving customers believing it’s all good ! Not View all feedback.
My Husband and I stayed here with friends from his camera club for a long weekend. The room was spacious with a view of the river Ribble. Tea and coffee facilities were provided including fresh milk in a thermos flask. The meals were superb as was the wine list. No wonder I gained 3 lbs as a result. It was a good centre for all places of interest in the area. The hotel welcomed dogs and even had a special doggy menu. I must warn anyone with mobility issues as there are several stairs to the bedrooms with no lift and the shower was over the bath.
Stayed over the weekend really friendly and helpful staff food was great local ingredients rooms were clean comfortable and well appointed with amenities your can even bring your dog as they have a doggy menu. A good base for local walking plenty of local attractions i would stay here anytime I'm in the area.
Did not want to post this review but I provided an online review, as requested by restaurant , but had no response. Went for Sunday lunch with another couple. Stood around for ages before being welcomed and shown to our table. Not terribly busy but there was a large birthday party at an adjacent table. Ordered meals, only main courses, which did take some time to arrive but had no problem with that. When they arrived the two roasts were swimming in “ bisto” gravy more in keeping with a “ Greasy Spoon” café. There were no green vegetables and when requested were told there weren’t any. The salmon was over cooked and the Cumberland sausage and mash, although nicely presented came with braised red cabbage and onion gravy which completely overpowered the meal. No one came to ask us if our meals were OK even when clearing plates which had sizeable amounts left. We asked for sweet menus but they never arrived. Our table was booked from 1.45 with a request to vacate by 3.45 which was fine. However before 2.00 pm staff were starting to clear up and were resetting the restaurant for evening session and as it was obvious we were not going to get sweet menus and felt we were in the way so we had no alternative but to leave. Having travelled some way to visit this establishment to say we were disappointed is an understatement,
Stayed in room 3 with my daughter 2 dogs. Room is beautiful and huge, 2 windows both with window seats overlooking river front of house. Stunning views in all directions. Staff very helpful friendly. Treats in room for dogs. Eccles cakes for humans. Hidden gem. Lovely walks. Will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay so lovely.
Great for an overnight stay including the circular walk from the pub door. Good food, service and rooms. Would recommend.
