The inconsistency of the portions they serve is enough to make me want to drive off the nearest cliff which is like 20 miles away. More often than not, they will give me two shreds of chicken for my salad. There should be a way to more consistently give a normal portion of chicken. Ever heard of a scale? View all feedback.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had problems at this cafe Rio. First off, the line goes sooo slow, so I usually order online to get my food faster. This time, I got my food 15 mins after the promised time. Second, they forgot several things on the salad, including the dressing, which is VITAL for a cafe Rio salad. It’s maddening when you expect consistency from a food chain and don’t receive the same level of service and taste at different locations. I don’t know if this location will earn my business any further.
Took 30 min to get to our order in spite having a lot of staff. They made less than 10 dishes ahead of us.The workplace was filthy lids were covered in remnants of dried meat and ingredients were crossed without care. I selected burrito and got my beans and rice, I asked for beef and only then was informed that they were out. I only like their beef I don’t like their other meats. The guy went to serve pulled pork before even asking me what meat I wanted and stopped just before plopping it on. He asked if I would prefer steak as they were out of beef. He did not tell me that the steak price is more than the listed burrito price. He put a pitiful amount of cheese on the burrito before wrapping it up. I asked for mild sauce after the first scoop I told him just a little bit (I forget people typically like a lot more than I do). Then he put another scoop on anyway. Finally the actual quality of the food, the rice is undercooked and hard the beans which he said proudly were cooked today, were also undercooked. And the steak most importantly was guess what… undercooked. With such small pieces being cooked you’d expect them to get it right. I took two bites and though I’m quite hunger can’t imagine finishing the thing. I’d give 0 stars if I could Honestly if you’ve got a car drive the extra one mile down to the Costa Vida. The foods almost the exact same, so unless they are just as incompetent, it’ll taste better. Just tried to eat another bite cause I am quite hungry but I can’t stomach it it literally feels like I’m eating raw meat
I've always loved Cafe Rio! Most of the time it is quality food and I'm very full after eating here. Sometimes there are inconsistencies in the quality of their food. When I went this last time, everything was great! But the rice..... The rice was undercooked and ruined the overall quality of my burrito. Again, love this place! But its becoming more inconsistent the more I go.
Cafe Rio is the best. Sadly everyone knows that so the line is always really long but all the employees work quickly and efficiently so the line goes decently fast. The food is delicious no matter what you get, especially the sweet pork tacos which are only $1.99 each on Tuesday or whenever with your BYUI card. They also have the best ice (it’s the pebble ice like sonic) which is what gets me to buy a drink every time I’m there. They also sometimes have a survey on the recipe which is great because if you fill it out you can get a free dessert or chips and salsa. Such a deal! They also have a fantastic loyalty program and an app. 10/10 recommend.

I love the sweet pork quesadillas the best because I don’t need to get the beans that I don’t prefer. It’s sad because I was always pressured into picking something at first when I haven’t been to Cafe Rio much, and I got the sweet pork burrito. I didn’t enjoy it due to the components I didn’t like. Glad I discovered quesadillas! They taste the best when still warm.
