My husband and I were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. We had seen The Mountain House on Check, Please on PBS and were intrigued by the location and view of the redwoods. It was a long drive from San Jose, but well worth it. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We were seated in the back room with full views of the redwoods. What Kenly Hindman doesn't like about The Mountain House:
Overall, very disappointing. Quality ingredients. However, the food was so salty that it was nearly inedible. I could only finish half of entree and my wife left about 2/3rds of hers. Even the salad dressing was heavily salted. After dinner we were served tea in a pot of room temperature water so the tea did not steep, and the tea itself was a basic numi tea bag. My boyfriend and I dined here to celebrate his birthday. It was a beautiful setting and ambiance! We loved sitting in the restaurant with glass windows; it almost felt like we were dining right outdoors. I would recommend dining here during the spring time when you're able to catch the sunset before it gets dark at 5pm. Other than that, we both enjoyed our experience and the food was delicious.

If you haven't been to the Mountain House then it's a must!!
Awesome food, service and a great view...ask for the forest room! its beautiful and scenic outside.
