We went 3 mornings. Food good all 3 times. First morning (Friday, July 7) waitress and service were outstanding!! Next 2 days food still good but service, and amount of staff (low) were so-so. Great and I mean great toast! View all feedback.
What Hubert Dickinson doesn't like about La Cabina Ristorante & Carrington's English Lounge:
My friend from USA and myself from Edmonton had dinner there on July 9th. I ordered lasagna and my friend ordered canoli. Both were just average. My lasagna had just one meat ball in it. Both items seemed to be defrosted; definitely not freshly made which would have taken a long time. Dinner for two with a bottle of beer for $20 is reasonable. Chicken curry on a bed of rice was on special which we both figured as an... View all feedback.
Exactly what you'd expect from an attached hotel resto. Given how hard it is to get deliveries up to radium I cut them slack : also, it appears one of the cooking staff didn't show the evening we came by and given that, the staff did admirably well. The pizza is thinner crust, good yeasty flavour and chew. Ask for Parmesan and it'll fill out the flavours on your pizza. Fish n chips are beer battered, with the same fries you'd find at Costco. Not gourmet/high end. But if you've just rolled in after 8hrs of driving with the hangries, it's good enough!
We didn 't realize our hotel restaurant was Italian as it 's pretty much a small family-style place. The Good: a lot of gf options for breakfast and lunch/ dinner, and I really appreciated that they gave me fried potatoes rather than the dreaded deep-fried hashbrowns! The breakfast staff was efficient and friendly. The Meh: no much flavour in dinner dishes. Also, my small gf pizza (yay! was $22 (wha?! . Would be good for families and/or picky eaters who like to shoot for the middle. Staff seemed to be serving out community service and not loving life.
This review has nothing to do with the Italian restaurant but is purely to waste time at work and make it seem like I am doing something. Just kidding I am sitting on my patio having a beer, which I also had many of the night I was in Radium and stopped in at this little gem of a place. The English style pub attached to the restaurant I mean of course. If you are wondering I am currently wearing a housecoat....but when I was there I had normal clothes on and also have a great time chatting with some friendly folks while sitting at the bar. The bartender was nice and had some good stories from back home and the fish and chips were pretty tasty...nothing special but I would eat them again. Had a couple local beers on tap which was nice so I helped them maintain their freshness in the kegs and lines by thoroughly running a few threw. Arrowhead and Fernie were both represented and the bartender was also knowledgeable about scotch and whiskey which was nice. 4 stars is generous, but compared to the other choice of the horsetheif pub this place is well deserved!
Typical low-end-hotel restaurant. White Spot food at Keg prices. The servers are very nice people but It's not really an Italian restaurant. The theme and menu needs revamping. Maybe the quality would be better if they put their energy into a specialty restaurant such as pizza or pasta, and adjusted the prices to a more proper level. Then they can even keep the Italian name.
Tldr; EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT IS CHEAP EXCEPT FOR THE PRICES. Servers know NOTHING about the menu and are all but absent from the front of house Chef can 't season a meal to save his life ZERO attention to detail I can 't begin to describe how awful this restaurant is, but let me try. I took my wife to Radium for our anniversary, and I asked the hotel concierge to make romantic dinner reservations for us. The package I bought also included a complimentary breakfast, so the idea was to eat at this establishment twice (BIG mistake). When we got to the restaurant, there was no servers on the floor, and no hostess at the front desk. They had been open all day, and the place was empty.. I suppose this should have been our first hint. We seated ourselves, and when the server finally arrived, she brought us waters in the ancient plastic cups. This would probably be OK if we were at Smitty 's, but we were not, we were supposedly eating Fine Italian Cuisine . Every time the server came to the table (drinks, orders, etc), we inevitably had questions about the meals... she had NO answers, and had to ask the chef about everything. Also, many items that we wanted to eat (Items that WERE on the menu), were unavailable, and we had to make alternate decisions (this should have been our second hint). When the complementary bread arrived, we were given re heated rolls and plastic single use butter containers instead of a nice whipped butter dish. With the bread, we ordered some calamari, and when it arrived, it was terribly undercooked and quite disgusting. Dinner arrives and out comes my wife 's $32, 8oz, medium rare steak... it was well done, completely unseasoned, and dry as chalk. WHO PAYS $32 FOR CHALK??? My chicken was average, I ate it and paid for it, but we sent the steak back. We went back the next morning for breakfast, simply because I had the voucher and it was free... well not quite free. The concierge told me that it was a complementary breakfast, but gave me a $25 voucher... this voucher will NEVER cover a breakfast for two when you 're charging $3 for a coffee and an average of $10 plate. ANYWAYS, against my better judgement we went for breakfast, and again, everything my wife asked for was UNAVAILABLE... at this point she was DONE. No more eating, just get out of her face. I chose to try the soft basted eggs, toast, hash browns, and bacon. The hash browns were completely unseasoned (just like the steak from the night before), and the eggs were like slime... I actually gagged a little when I saw them. Now I have NEVER sent a meal back in a restaurant, so sending my wife 's steak one night and my eggs the next morning was very out of the ordinary for me. In conclusion, this is the last restaurant on the planet that I would recommend you eat at. In fact, our server from the first night even suggested that we eat elsewhere...
