First time back here to dine in over 5 years and the recent renovation looks like it's paid off! Beautiful setting inside or outside, with views overlooking the beach really elevated the experience. The views on a sunny day was definitely the highlight! Great atmosphere! Even though we went well after the lunch period, the meals were tasty and all staff friendly. Would love to venture back in the Winter and dine by t... View all feedback.
What Evian Alves Gonzalez doesn't like about The Portsea Hotel:
The view was absolutely stunning. However, the food was the complete opposite. We ordered the fish and chips, it was dry and unseasoned. We also got the fettuccine pasta which also tasted bland and unappetising. We've been wanting to come here for 2 years now, so we drove 80KM and we were left disappointed. The watermelon drink also tasted artificial. It was expensive and not really worth it... View all feedback.
Cold Oyster Entrees came out after the main thing was served. we think garnel in pasta dishes were not fresh and cooked by frozen.
I thought that the food and the drinks were overpriced for what they have. salat was just a few leaves on the plate, while the parma was ok, but a bit dry and I would say the frits were best in average. margarita was tasty, but at $20 I would hope so. service also lacked, a friend of the table asked for more soße for her steak, as there was hardly any and they wouldn't give her anything except they paid. very poor. would not recommend it.
This hotel pub is really good. it is huge and impeccable renovated. they have a seating area in the open with a fresh brise and a view of the sea or the inside seats. they have a fireplace next to a bar and also a bar in the main room. the chicken parmigiana is pretty good and I would recommend getting an aioli as a side to immerse their chips. but for $27, I would expect the salad to be a bit more special than leaf green from a pack with some parmesan dressing on it and also a full plate of chips! but whatever I leave this film, I guess. the bar is good and has some different wee and great (mostly local) beer on the tap, especially the bright ale. the whole place is cozy and has a warm atmosphere. they have made their pints of balter xpa $17. 5 stars up to 3 stars. ridicully greedy price above all to see how good their business is.

We loved Portsea Hotel and would try and visit once a year. It’s a great location but the food was a let down. Lacked flavour, came out luke warm. The venue was pretty busy and the staff were doing the best they could to keep up with all of the orders. We ordered drinks from the table that took 25 mins to arrive. The garlic pizza was nice, but the rest of the food wasn’t worth the price. We haven’t been here in a few years and the food definitely used to be better. Would also suggest some signs for outside saying not to feed the seagulls since some patrons lack common sense and were feeding them at tables so they could take photos of them. We weren’t eating outside but could see this was annoying others who were also trying to eat and had birds coming and eating off their plates
