I decided to stop by on a whim, and I was not disappointed! The restaurant was clean both inside and out, with a nice restroom as well. Now, on to the food – the baked chicken empanadas were excellent, and the coffee was really good too. However, the highlight for me was the apple turnover; it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. What Kat S doesn't like about El Cafetal Bakery:
Overpriced. This is a Colombian bakery owned by Ecuadorians, who took over a few years after it originally opened. While the quality of the food has stayed relatively consistent, the prices have significantly increased. They only accept cash, which is quite inconvenient and makes me wonder about the reason behind it. Additionally, the owner can come across as somewhat arrogant, which is why I'm rating it 3 stars. I used to really enjoy visiting this restaurant. The empanadas and cheese finger bread were my favorite choices. Unfortunately, they don’t make them the same way anymore; the empanadas are disappointing, and the cheese fingers are tough to chew. The prices have also become too high, with a small milkshake costing $7 now, while I used to pay around $5. Overall, it's quite overpriced. On a positive note, I do appreciate the customer service; they are quick and attentive.
