Had a birthday surprise dinner here organised by my partner. Wow what a wonderful time we had. The restaurant has a great vibe and the decor is nice and modern not distracting from the two best things, the food and the service. We had very polite and fast servers even in a busy hour of the day our food was delivered swiftly. The food was something else, if you're looking for a modern French cuisine this is the place... What Maryse Corkery doesn't like about The Little Snail:
I have visited this restaurant a hundred times and a thing really amazing about the chefs they are so consistent with skill, presentation and taste. that was the first time I've ever been surprised by my steak plate. at the time of order. I have asked that the thing is MEDIUM-RARE and the female staff, which obviously looked new, because I never worked here before, asked medium or rare again. and I kept saying medium... My favourite French restaurant in Sydney! It has atmosphere and the food is always good and reasonable. The service is excellent and the waiters/ waitress are very helpful. The restaurant is very close to the CBD and all the tourists things to see. It is easy to get to from train, bus and ferry. It is a great place for romance of a night or a group function at lunch. There is a set menu on the weekend at $45 with lots of choice. Be careful wine is excellent but expensive!
Coming from America, you don't often see restaurants that serve snail. However, the one thing that Americans definitely do not serve is Kangaroo which is exactly why my fiance and I came to try it out while visiting Australia. Since this was our first time, we decided to go with the 3 course menu which includes an entree appetizer), main, and a dessert which is pretty worth it for $65 AUD $42 USD). I chose the Escargot, Kangaroo Fillet, and the Hazelnut Praline Ice Cream. Despite the name of the restaurant, the Escargot came with 12 of the largest snails I had ever seen loaded with an abundance of butter although I wish the garlic pieces were bigger to give more of a garlicky punch. And then came the star of the show, the Kangaroo. The chef recommended it to be cooked rare not medium rare) and I'm so glad I did because every bite was so unbelievably tender. I was honestly blown away by how soft and flavorful the meat is considering how lean it is and the fact that it is not gamy at all. The dessert was alright, but nothing mind blowing. The place was very clean and the staff was attentive. It is also conveniently located near Darling Harbor which is a plus. I would definitely come back for the kangaroo since it 100% did not disappoint.
Very nice restaurant serving excellent food. Service was outstanding. Escargot was excellent as was the duck and filet. Highly recommend.
Such a hidden gem. The food and ambience were amazing. It's bigger than it looks as well.
Delicious food. We ordered two sets of the set dinner and everything was good. Duck confit, steak, snail, and seafood soup (forgot the French name of it). Bread pudding dessert was delicious! The cream puff dessert was okay.
