After phoning numerous restaurants for suckling pig (spanferkel) our concierge finally found this restaurant offering spanferkel as a Sunday special. It was a perfect autumn day and everybody sat outside under the trees. A band played evergreens and families had a great time. Service was...very good but I am sorry to say the spanferkel was not freshly prepared, dry and tasteless…a big disappointment. Portions were la... View all feedback.
WIth a suburban location in southwest Munich, Waldwirtschaft is definitely off the beaten path as far as tourists are concerned — which is one reason why I think this was my favorite of all the beer gardens we visited in Munich. This feels like the kind of place locals go to get away from tourists like me. Frankly, we wouldn't have even known Waldwirtschaft existed if not for the the fact that the friends we were staying with had a social event to attend here. The setting along the banks of the Isar River is lovely, and the ambiance is low key and relaxed. I'm not at all surprised that when I do an internet search for "best beer gardens in Munich", Waldwirtschaft appears at or near the top of just about every list.
Great place and atmosphere. Menu is long but Really good. Short ribs and duck are the must try. Bavarian experience is guaranteed!
Our host took us to this beautiful place. Fine food and great atmosphere. Although there was jazz band playing it still felt as in Bavaria.
This was recommended by a friend and it was relaxing. Typical beer garden with self-service area as well as several BBQ stations spread around the seating area provides everything for a perfect hangout. While it's typical Bavarian, the difference is the music which is being played - jazz all the way! We saw 'Association Hagaw' for a few sets and it was perfectly underlining the setting. Beautiful beer garden with a jazzy twist and easy to reach by bicycle from downtown Munich with a nice ride along the Isar.
And traditional specialties: duck, pork, red cabbage. and a fabulous kaiserscharmn ?very good service and perfect environment for a nice business team dinner.
