Another great place in Puducherry yo have meals. Probably the best Pan Asian restaurant. A little hyped, but yes, it's overpriced. Best sea views and cool breeze on the summit. It is one of the restaurants of the famous Hotel Promenade in Puducherry. Dinner here will be the best option for a cool breeze and sea sound. During the day you will see the sea for miles away. You have your own corner for smokers. Service is... View all feedback.
What Nupoor Mutti doesn't like about Bay of Buddha - The Promenade:
the restaurant is very popular, which can be judged by the hour waiting period that we had to endure on a Friday night. the ambiente is beautiful with good music and the sea directly outside. they serve Chinese, Thai and Korean. I tried her chicken dimsum, which was the star dish and very tasty. in the main course I tried her huh with red chili and cashew with chicken noodles that were good in taste, but the noodles... I will start directly with reviewing it's food. Food - Appetizing and appealing. I had visited this place with another friend of mine. We ordered a Sea food platter and a bottle of wine. The platter had prawns, crabs, fishes and squids which were wonderful in taste and exquisite in presentation. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. Before placing the order, we were not sure about it's quantity. The platter would suffice four people, but it was so delicious that we managed to finish it all ( it was just two of us eating ). The place is famous for it's king fish. However, we could not try it since they were out of king fish that night. Ambience - Crowded yet isolated. On the seaside. Comfortable seating areas. Service - Good. Although, Waiters are not very attentive. I visited this place on one of the busiest night which could be the reason for it. Money - More on the expensive side. But overall good experience. SEA FOOD PLATTER : MUST TRY !!!!
Untrained waiters. The food was average. The service was slooooooooowwwww. It was so slow that we forgot to order a drink. Only noticed in the invoice. When we asked for it to be removed because the drink never arrived, the waiter instead said he'd rather get it (after asking for the bill). They couldn't get us a high chair for a child. The options in the menu were limited. The fish was dry, overcooked, while the rice was a little overcooked. One drink we actually got was not good and tasted like sugar syrup.
Good taste with the best ambience. Parking is a little difficult for cars. The service and menu are great. Reasonable cost. The view from the roof is fantastic
I've been sitting here for the past 45 minutes, waiting for simple drinks. They neither recognize you nor show up even after calling them. Terrible service.
Stop #3 in the French Colony! When near the beach, who would not want to have a meal while facing the waves? Pretty much everyone. For this, Bay by Buddha comes as a great option. Located on the rooftop (3rd floor), of the Promenade hotel, take a corner seat and you would be able to feel and see the waves in all its measures. They have only an open space for seating, so when it rains one might have to move down to the cafe. But, the view and time spent here definitely come with breezy winds and soulful wave sounds. Seaside view and rooftop make up for a great AMBIANCE. They serve pan-Asian cuisine, with the map explaining which places in Asia are famous for what right at the starting of the menu. Quite interesting I must recall. The FOOD is a mix of everything. Some authentic dishes, some cliche ones. We thought of experimenting with the 4-course meal option that they were providing. Inclusions: - Tom Yum Soup (4/5) - Dimsums (4 Pieces) - (3/5) - Green Thai Curry with Jasmine Rice - (3/5) - A choice of dessert (Had chocolate pot with coconut) - (4/5) Also ordered Som Tom Salad. It totally lacked the crunch it should be having with peanuts and a tangy drizzle of the salad dressing. Overall the food was above average, but if one is not new to having this cuisine might find a little detour from the perfection with which these dishes should've been made with. Tasted good, but the overall dish needs to have the perfect presentation and style as well. Can be improved, especially for the Green Curry. The STAFF is courteous. The manager was considerate enough to give a call after it stopped raining and the place was cleaned and ready for serving guests. Overall the experience was really smooth and extremely pleasant, more because of the weather and the steaming food. Would recommend for a meal once for sure. After all the pseudo-French food being served here, this surely gives a good option for munching some Pan-Asian delicacies down south. Few tips for the management: - Please make sure the food is piping hot, considering a mildly hot food would turn cold even faster due to breeze always flowing. - Due to the greenery, the servers are not easily approachable by a single call, a bit of more attention would definitely notch up the service part and make it easier for the customers dining in. - Green chutney isn't supposed to be served with Dimsums. Let's try and keep the authenticity of the cuisine intact. Good luck! :)
