This was an all round fantastic experience. Honestly couldn't fault this place. We had the tempura gyoza, sushi and wagyu steak. I even had more gyoza it was so good. Excellent service as well. I will be back to this place, count on that. View all feedback.
What Nicola Weissnat doesn't like about Water Moon:
The person delivering my order ignored the cross road information AND the precise directions I had included when ordering online with details of how to get to the entrance to my block. I live about 3 minutes from the restaurant, and received a call saying they were no where near my street number. The result was tepid miso soup and cold fried squid (yuk). Inexcusable really. This restaurant is in a great spot on Victoria St, sit outside for a relaxing summer evening or inside for more traditional Japanese style. The food here is delicious and well priced. We had the sashimi which was very fresh and tasty, katsu & soba for mains which were both generous serving sizes and good food! Try the sake of the month special - a great price and the staff will share the story with you. We got saki cups to take home as well! The service here is excellent; very friendly, professional and fast.
We've eaten here on several occasions and have always enjoyed the experience. It is however over a year since the last meal at Watermoon. Everything appears the same and service by Japanese staff is a friendly and efficient standard. On this visit we found the cooked food more greasy and fairly bland. Presentation of dishes quiet plain. While overall OK, there is plenty of choice in the area so we won't be rushing back nor recommending to friends.
We were staying in the area so though we'd give this a whirl. Firstly, it was super cheap! Sushimi wasn't bad but the service...oh the service..All men and all useless! We literally had to ask for everything at least 3 times and had to give them back some dirty plates (we hadn't used them yet) I thought it was strange they only had deep fried gyozas which were bizarre!Would I go here again?...NOPE!The clincher-when we were paying one rude man said 'please leave there are people waiting..'!?!!??Don't bother, we are from Melbourne and are use to good service and good food and this place had neither.
We went here for the first time with a few friends last night, and we were all extremely impressed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the the staff were lovely and attentive without being intrusive. We took our own wine, but even with corkage and each person putting $5 toward a tip it only cost $30 per head which is amazing value for dinner on New Years Eve in Sydney. Our favourites were the Sashimi platter, Tempura, Teriyaki Chicken, Seaweed salad and the tuna rolls. We'll definitely be back.
We stumbled across this gem after scoffing cheap dumplings across the road. The food was divine and the wine delicious :) all well priced and great value. Staff were attentive and catered to our every need.
