I finally found a trendy and unique cafe in my favorite spot in South Australia! They not only serve exceptional local dishes (I enjoyed a tasty bagel with smoked salmon, local cream cheese with homegrown dill and salted capers) and top-quality coffee (they use Deegroot coffee!), but they also offer electric bikes for hire. Walter Melon is my go-to restaurant every week, and today we rented e-bikes to show our guests from Sydney around the Encounter Bike Trail. It was an absolutely amazing experience and the best way to enjoy the beauty of the whales at Basham Beach. We cycled to Goolwa and back, even stopping for a coffee. This is a must-do activity for both visitors and locals. Kids aged twelve and above can ride their own bikes, while younger children can ride along with a caregiver. It's fun for everyone! I also recommend finishing off your experience with a meal and coffee at the restaurant. The owners, Catherine and Alex, are incredible.

We rode along the stunning coastline and even spotted whales! It was an incredible experience, and apparently, whale sightings are common when riding their electric bikes. The hour drive from Adelaide was definitely worth it for a day trip to this hotspot. I highly recommend it for families, as kids aged 13 and above can also ride the bikes. I can't wait to go back! P.S. They also serve traditional Italian dishes and had pasta e' fagioli on the menu when we visited.
