This restaurant is a wonderful spot. It’s incredibly relaxing to sit outside under the shade of a tree. We opted for the full tasting menu and also ordered the cheese plate. The tasting was served at our table, and the staff was very knowledgeable about all the wines and the production methods. They took their time and never rushed us. I share Chelsey's opinion. We visited several years ago and witnessed her rude behavior towards several patrons. Her level of professionalism is very lacking. If it weren't for the quality of their wines, they probably wouldn't remain in business. View all feedback.
I loved the drive up to the vineyard, the quintessential winding backroads of New England was breathtaking, when we drove in to the property the surroundingswere stunning, we were quickly met with the owners. We chosethe full wine tasting experience .The wine was exceptional, the owners constant banter about politics and racial views were uncomfortable and unnecessary, we wanted a day out with my aunt,laid back and fun experience, we left with a sour taste in our mouths due to the inappropriate views and commentary of the owners. Waste of time and money and a day out with family, could have gotten a cheap bottle of wine and put on CNN it would have been the same experience!!When I come into this area, I always gran the Ballad of Angles and take it back south with me .Now I refuse, the garbage that was coming off there tongues was like rancid wine. FOREVER will tarnish my favorite memories of there wine.
My family and I drove an hour to do a wine tasting for Fathers day. This is one of my families favorite wine, and my parents had visited Sharpe Hill Vineyards a year ago and had a wonderful experience. The 5 of us showed up at 1:30 and were greeted with terrible hospitality as the mother yelled at us to bring out water bottles back to the car, as outside food or drink were not allowed. A completely understandable request but did not need the attitude included with it. We told her it was fine and asked if we they could bring water to our table to which she said no. We finally got that cleared up by the daughter who said she would get a pitcher of water for us. We should have just walked out then... things only progressively got worse. Everything we tried to do we got yelled at. We came for a tasting but the tasting room was full so they asked us to sit in the front hallway to do it, which would have been very awkward, plus it was gorgeous out so we asked to sit outside. The daughter said that was fine and just to pick a table close to the door so she could do a tasting for us. When the mother caught word of this she yelled at us that that was not allowed which then proceeded into an argument between the daughter and her. My family was very uncomfortable and confronted the mother about her behavior and told her that she was making us uncomfortable, we then got a lecture on that.... Once we were seated we tried to enjoy ourselves, but the mother kept coming over to all the tables and lecturing us on different policies, and the times they closed. We would ask her to leave us alone, but she never would. 10 minutes before they closed the mom then yelled out to the entire patio that she is cleaning up all the glasses because they are closing... my family still have 3 wines left to taste, and other families were still trying to enjoy the wine they purchased. We ended up chugging the rest of the wine, and didn 't even wait to use the bathroom in fear we would get yelled at again. As we left the mother followed us out into the parking lot.It was only the mother and daughter working. We were told the father died a year ago and the mother was having a hard time. My sincerest condolences, however, customer service is extremely important. If your mother is not fit to work, they please keep her off the floor. Our assumption is that they cannot keep anyone else hired. If she was my boss, I would walk out on my first day.Best of luck to you as a winery. If this keeps up it wont be there much longer. Needless to say, we wont be back any time soon.
Wow. I tried to return to Sharpe Hill Vineyard Sunday for the second, but sadly last time I’ll ever attempt to come here. It’s unfortunate because as the first experience was lovely we had knowledgeable staff tell us about the wines. Sunday my partner and I went to stop by about 1 hour and 20 minutes before they closed. We did not even get past the front doors before an elderly lady (now we learned was the owner yelling at us that we only had 10 minutes to order since they are closing(?? weird that they would turn away sales one entire hour before close. We originally came for a tasting but was told we aren’t allowed that we can only SHARE ONE GLASS of wine or buy a bottle to go….. so, we were going to buy a bottle and purchase a wine glass since the glass I had from my first visit broke and I was so upset, I was happy to finally replace it. Immediately this elderly women was YELLING at me that I cannot buy ANY glasses… this is when another women, the daughter… had come out to try and reel her mother in. The two women began to bicker and yell at each other, the mother even telling her to “SHUT UP” !? I couldnt believe how dysfunctional this was that this is how they run their business? Appalled. I couldn’t make out what one or the other was saying because the mom wouldn’t let ANYONE get a word in edge wise… after being yelled at myself I was so fed up and I just walked out right in the middle of them arguing. Left, didn’t purchase anything. If they could have just acted professionally they would have made a sale and sold an entire bottle of wine… if you look at Google reviews or Yelp reviews you will see the trend of this old Lady who is the owner cause many many problems with many patrons to the point they will not come back, and neither will I!!! I will never come back to subject myself to what I had experienced. I HIGHLY recommend people steer clear of Sharpe Hill Vineyard . It’s a shame because it’s a quaint little place with good wine, unfortunately the owner will WILL run that winery into the ground due to her inability to keep her head on straight. Instead we left and went straight to Taylor Brooke Winery. Save yourself from being screamed at and just check out Taylor Brooke instead…..
I have not been to this vineyard for a few years, we visited and bought a bottle or two and took a walk to the top of the hill at the vineyard pre- Covid. I called today to see if the restaurant was open and received a long rant about the current administration and if we had a new administration everything would be different and how top quality provisions they need to run the restaurant are being held offshore in a freighter and not allowed in- by this administration I assume. Really crazy- not sure why she insists on not answering simple questions and instead stands on a soapbox on her corner of the world
It was a beautiful place, however not some place you go hang out and be social. No outside food is allowed. You are told where to sit, which wine to try in your tasting and then you are gone. If you want to sit down and have a bottle of wine it's a $5 charge. I will not be back. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is cause their wine is decent.
