Amazing experience! Don’t let the outside steer you away. Not a prime square location but it’s the prettiest street in all of Gdansk in my opinion. The food is fantastic! The service amazing! What D S doesn't like about Cafe Literacka:
Rip off shop... Don't eat there... The food was very good, but unfortunately the tip was already placed on the bill as a service fee. Whether you were satisfied with the service or not, I just paid 15 euros whether you wanted it or not. Don't get me wrong, I like to tip if the service was good, so it smells a lot like a rip off. Ask for Shi mone (Simon he will take very good care of you and always offers wonderful recommendations and conversations. We don 't visit here that often but Simon remembered us every time we came. Make a reservation because this tiny two story building is a unique lay out so seating is tight. Two tables on the main floor, maybe 4 tables upstairs, and more in the downstairs. The servers definitely get a work out moving up and down the tight stairwell so tip them well (even though tipping is not common in this country. Every time we come, they know the wine we like and our names. Its impressive because we don 't live anywhere close and visit, maybe once a year. Their soups are recommended, the dark red wine and some of their house fruit mix is always welcome too. I always enjoy the atmosphere and bring a new friend each time. The staff speaks English, Polish and many other languages, par for the area. Sometimes we only come for a bottle of wine, sometimes for food. Regardless, we enjoy the excellent service.
Absolutely outstanding service and exceptional food. We came in for a birthday without a reservation and they were able to fit us in despite being quite busy. Our table had several food allergies (gluten, dairy and eggs) and the chef was able to accommodate them all very easily. This is one of the nicest meals we've had in the week we've been in Poland so far. Highly recommend trying this place out!
Staff is extremely helpful and friendly! It's my second time here and the waiter remembered my wife and I even though we were in a group on our previous visit. We will always make time to visit with our new friends here while in Gdańsk.
A sensational place with an unusual atmosphere, great food and service at the highest level. I highly recommend it and I am convinced that every guest will feel the magic of this place.
