Contribute FeedbackArugula remains a popular dining choice, but recent visits have revealed inconsistencies in both food quality and service. While some dishes shine, with excellent seafood and well-cooked appetizers, others disappoint due to overcooked meals and shrinking portions. Service has been a recurring concern, with reports of slow response times, disorganized table management, and servers who sometimes appear rushed or inattentive. Despite these setbacks, loyal patrons still find moments of delight and excellent value. Arugula may still hold promise, but diners are hoping for a renewed focus on consistency and a welcoming atmosphere.
We have been customers of this restaurant since it first opened, but we have noticed a decline in quality over the past year. Last night's experience was a good example of this. While my wife's seafood dish was tasty, the portion size has decreased as the price has increased. My chicken Parmesan was overcooked and not served hot. I had to ask multiple times for cheese and red pepper flakes, which should have been brought to the table with the meal. I also had to request more water several times, which was frustrating. The bread is always subpar, but the other dishes are usually good. However, the service on this particular night was the worst we have experienced. We dined outside on the terrace and no one came to our table for 20 minutes. We didn't receive bread until after our salads, which was unusual, and there were multiple issues with our server. We are unsure of what has happened to this place, but it seems to be going downhill quickly. Despite being long-time customers, we are hesitant to return in the future.
As expected, good food, good service. A good lunch spot.
The special ravioli dish with shrimp and scallops was delicious, as was our starter, the arugula salad special. Of course, finishing off the dinner with the limoncello cake was a necessity! The only complaint I ever have about the restaurant is the noise level is extremely high with seemingly nothing to absorb the sound. Tonight I used my app to measure the decibel level which varied between 77.7 and 85.5 decibels; thank heaven I can turn my hearings aids down. I was feeling sorry for the staff having to work in that environment.
The food was EXCELLENT. There was an extensive delay once we received the check. We paid in cash and asked for change so we could leave the tip, but the waitress only brought a $20 and $5 bill. We waited another 15 minutes but no one checked on the table, and when I asked the server to break the bills into smaller bills, we still waited another 10 minutes.
The food was good, however, when I dine out, I desire to pay for an experience. We did not feel welcomed by our server. Rather, we felt rushed and felt as if we were an inconvenience. Good service is not that deep. Smile and assume we know nothing about your establishment or offerings. Also treat customers as if you want us to spend our money there now, and in the future. We’ll spend our money elsewhere. No problem.
