La Cambuse - Plouhinec

Visited in a party of 8 on Friday. We had a good mix of dishes from Tuna steak, Burger Maison and of course numerous Moules frites. All very nice with great flavour. Kids meals were generously portioned and actual quality food instead of the junk that is normally given to them. Desserts consumed ranged from Creme brulee to ice cream and again, all very very tasty. I would have no reservations about returning when we are back near Plouhinec. Great value and tasty food, in a lovely villege setting.

We just happened to be passing through Plouhinec around midday in early June 2015 and, knowing that in France one must eat when the restaurants dictate or else go hungry, we took a chance on La Cambuse, even though there were hardly any other customers. What a find! We just went for the 2 course menu, warm goat cheese salad followed by steak and frites. Well, the salad was delicious and inventive and plentiful, quite the best we've had in France, and well on the way to being a main course in itself. Generally in France we've been perplexed by the reluctance to serve greens, but this salad was exceptional. The steak was delicious, cooked to perfection, and big too, so between the salad and the steak we're prepared to forgive the frites (why is it that French restaurants don't offer boiled or even mashed potatoes at midday, instead of the seemingly compulsory frites? . Excellent value for money I think it was about 15.50 euros each exclusive of drinks, typical enough for a midday meal in that region, but very much higher quality than the usual fare at that price. Definitely worth a detour!

Cherchions un endroit différent pour un plat classique, le steak-frites. On entre par le bar, original, pour gagner la salle arrière. Décor quelconque malgré la belle petite cheminée. En apéritif un kir, quelques cacahuètes offertes c'est tout. La garniture du plat est quelconque. Une terrasse en façade, mais c'est proche de la rue principale très passagère. Si ce n'est à minima partout, je dirais "sans plus".

Nous avons été attiré par la carte a l'extérieur proposant plusieurs choix de poissons. Mais lorsque nous étions assis la serveuse nous a dit qu il n y avait que du thon. Le choix en légumes était très restreint. Nous avons donc décidé de quitter ce restaurant sans y manger. A éviter si vous voulez manger du poisson ou des légumes.

Nous visitions le coin, sympa au demeurant et ce petit restaurant à été le premier dans notre champs de vision. Ben l'assiette était copieuse, bonne avec en prime un service discret mais sympathique.36 € à deux avec boisson et café... Franchement rien à redire !
