Change of owners but the food are still delicious! The originals owners retired and now it is taken over by some brothers. The new staff are very friendly when I was there for dinner! Tomo is also near the Meadowlark Dairy : great for a ice cream walk after sushi! View all feedback.
What Ee Vonn Y doesn't like about Tomo Sushi Bar Grill:
Interior Tiny, cramped, small. Seaweed salad Tasty, simple. Ika Not good. Really chewy and hard to swallow. Couldn't finish this. Hamachi kama Good. Should've ordered a second dish. Soba Sauce was decent. Could have had more flavor. Tempura Average. View all feedback.
I visited Pleasanton not too long ago, and I went to this great restaurant as a recommendation. The first thing I noticed was the open kitchen and like the main chef of the Restanrant was a woman!!! In the sushi world there are not so many women main chefs!! She seemed very friendly. The food was excellent; the best sushi place I was, and I was at least twenty different Japanese restaurants. I like the restaurant people who are not very good at eating sushi, and people who like to try new things like Ankimo (Fish intestine) and Uni (Sea Urchin). I also like that they have so many different types of drinks, including Japanese Martinis! I wish I lived there because I heard that they did this competition to win things like the WildHorse Ranch membership worth thousands of dollars and $250 gift certificate to their restaurants!!!! I'd go back there in a heartbeat! The price is also very affordable!
Not gonna lie .. I thought this place was just gonna be another Okayishhh sushi place only because it was in downtown . But after arriving there I was already excited . THEY GOT A PARKING LOT! For FREEEEE. Lol there aren't many spots but man. That sure did make my day. Going I N S I D E . . . It was dead on a weeknight for dinner which made me a bit nervous . We chose to sit at the bar since no one was there . The waitress gave us our menus and gave us a pretty reasonable time to decide but of course ... I'm on yelp looking at what other yelpers has to say. Anyways . I ordered the Hot Sake and tea to start. The hot sake tasted like any other sake . Not bitter and yummy : And for the Tea, I was so happy to see tea leaves in my cup ! Not a tea bag. That irritates me lol. F O O D ! ! ! Soft Shell Crab (5/5 stars Sitting at the bar, I can see everything coming out of the deep fryer and mannnnnn did that crab look PERFECT !!! Just watching the last bit of oil drip down.. I could not wait !!! I was a bit bummed to see that it came with Katsu sauce and not that other kind that this dish usually comes with at other restaurants but after eating it... I didn't even care . It was effin' delicious !!! I tried a good amount of sushi rolls .. can't say which on top of my head but overall, they're all fantastic . I'm not really into super heavy sauces all over my sushi rolls. So I asked for light sauce . And they put just the perfect amount : they even let me switch out some fish! Don't think I paid for substitution fee but whatever ! It might've only been a dollar . I was a happy fat girl that night : Lion King Roll (5/5 stars I do remember eating the Lion King Roll. Saucy but not superrrrrr heavy. It was as pretty gooood. I made sure to eat this towards the end cause it is heavy after all. Don't wanna get full too fast ;D Uni Nigiri (4/5 stars It's hard to find the perfect uni out here but it wasn't too bad . Slightly fishy and a but wetter than I'd like but .. Id eat it again. :
Another visit to Tomo Sushi was a hit with the whole gang. My husband can't get enough of the Fire Hero roll (he loves to slightly char the sliced rolls with the display of fire meant for decorative purposes only but provides a nice smoky flavor). The combination tempura was plentiful with four shrimps and a variety of vegetables (definitely suitable for sharing amongst a family). The udon and sashimi combination dishes were average and satisfying. Service has always been consistently attentive and pleasant. And the wait staff are particularly accommodating for children providing kid plates and cups. These little touches put them above the average sushi restaurants in he area.
My wife and I LOVE this place. Great location on Main Street very walkable and the folks who work there are SO kind. The food is GREAT!!! Order the jalapeño dribble.
This place is really super tasty. I had the Fire Cracker Roll with my buddy AV. It had just the right amount of spicyness that you did not even need your side wasabi for. The masago on top of this roll tasted fresh and crunchy. The rice has that new fresh, soft and sticky taste. The fish taste like it was caught today. This place strives to be the best and you can tell from their sushi. If the price was a tad lower this place would have 5 stars written all over it but I understand that is hard to do when your trying to have such high quality standards. For Sushi Tomo: Please don't change where and when you buy your food supplies, it makes your place great. I will want to come back next time and try some more rolls and maybe there will be one that is just too awesome where I may rate you guys 5 stars for. Cheers!
