The food and service at El Rey dive are excellent. I highly recommend it as the dishes are quite delicious. I tried the special burrito and it was a generous portion and incredibly tasty. My partner had a combination plate and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. View all feedback.

After waiting for service and inquiring about possible cross-contamination, I learned that the chips were fried with flour taco dishes, so I couldn't enjoy chips and salsa. Instead, I ordered guacamole dip which typically comes with chips, but it was served on a plate instead. The restaurant was short-staffed with only three servers, all of whom were very attentive. I was pleasantly surprised when I received corn tor... View all feedback.
I wasn't sure about vegan options, but they had vegetarian options where everything I had to do was asked to leave the cheese and sour looking, and got extra guacamole instead. I won over four pounds in a session! I had her veggie burrito, the a bit of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots and zucchini and tomatoes, with salat, fresh tomatoes and guave. I don't want to be bored and tears, but I can do it on the next time. her salsa is fresh and decent hot.
We were here for a late lunch on a Friday. The lunch options/specials are only available Monday through Friday. I got the chicken fajitas and they were just ok. They didn’t come out on a skillet, like they usually do at other places. Maybe it was because it was the $9.50 lunch special. The guacamole dip was bland.Service was quick. Our server was literally running from table to table. I think he was the only server in the place. He was the best thing about the place.
Ordered lunch fajitas. They arrived exactly 3 minutes after ordering, which raised some immediate red flags for me. I understand pre-making some dishes, but I’ve waited longer for a burger from Hardee’s. The fajitas were flavorless and chewy. The peppers were overcooked. The refried beans were flavorless and the cheese wasn’t completely melted on them. The rice was undercooked and tasted like a box mix. I’m pretty sure the whole meal was microwaved, because it definitely wasn’t fresh. Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had in 43 years.
Always do my best to stop in when passing through. Food is good and you also get a generous portion for the price. First place I've had Mexican food, and it didn't run through me afterwards. Truckers...you won't be disappointed
My food was cold. My buddies food was cold. The chips tasted like cardboard, and I was charged $9.00 for a bowl of queso that was Luke warm.To proceed these occurrences, my party was then told “Vamonos” by a short Mexican man. In a rude tone. And then took his shirt off for our party. Great guy, bad timing. My quesadilla was 3/4 of the size of El Nopal.1/10, do not recommend.
