What Ashlin Arjun doesn't like about Shepherd's Tree Game Lodge:
Booked a weekday stay. Food was terrible as there was no variety in the choice. I didn't eat most of it. There was no flavour to it either. Nothing about the menu says SA. The rooms were full of mosquitos and bugs. Ended up bringing back a bedbug. No network at all and the wifi is just above terrible. The staff are friendly and the game drives were great. For the price it's not worth it though. View all feedback.
Best game reserve hotel I have been to Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view, Quiet, Great value
We have been there at May 2023 for 4 days. The good The staff is extremely pleasant and service oriented. They are always smiling and eager to help. It is a unique vacation with 2 game drives a day (3 hours each where you hope to see as many animals as possible. We saw lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, etc. The food is outstanding, everything we ate was excellent. The rooms are beautiful and well equipped. The bed is enormous. The less good DO NOT TRUST THEIR WAKE UP CALL. We asked for a wake up call for the game of the morning (6:30 , they had a miscommunication between the staff members and we did not get a call. Luckily we set our own alarm. But if we would miss a game because of it, it would be unacceptable. There is one iron in the entire facility. I asked for it and got it only a day after, and that’s also after several times I had to call about it again. There staff members themselves are not always aligned. One person says breakfast start at 7:30, other tells you it starts at 8:00. The same is about the the time the game drive starts. For every request you have with the reception, you have to follow up by yourself. You request for something (iron, towels, etc. and they say ok, in some cases nothing is happening and you need to call back after a while to make the same request.

Only great compliments for this resort. We had a great stay here. Upon entry you will receive a welcome drink and a tour of the compound. The layout is modern and spacious and due to the large distance to the rear houses, you can be driven up in a golf cart if desired. Free! The stay includes all meals (excluding drinks) and game drives through the beautiful Pilanesberg National Park. The food is a la carte and tastes great, with a different menu every afternoon and evening. The service is very hospitable and personal, I would specifically like to thank Piet and Oupa for the good care. The Rangers are skilled and know exactly where to look. With the exception of the cheetah and the cheetah, we spotted all the land animals there are in Pilanesberg in 3 days, including a jackal and the lion (2 sexes). The room is beautifully decorated, the king-size bed is fantastic and there is a quiet air conditioning unit. The outdoor shower was a bit outdated but still adequate. The Spa facilities are also recommended, although our hot stone massage was a bit messy. All in all, we had the best feeling about this stay during our entire trip in South Africa. Highly recommended or perhaps even a must! EDIT: What I personally think is a shame is that the lodge responds below that it is 'truly superb ' and apparently assumes that I will come again. You can be proud of yourself, but saying something like that about yourself shows arrogance. Shame! Modesty would have served you well.
A nature lover's paradise. I loved the food and thank you to all the staff for making my birthday a memorable event. Will definitely visit many more times in the future.
