Good food. However, the flavor could be bolder. Island food, specifically Jamaican, has always been a bit expensive. It's worth treating yourself though.Food: 4/5 View all feedback.
What Esther M doesn't like about Cool Vybz Jamaican:
Called ahead and ordered the oxtails. The wait was over 40 minutes. The prices were different at the restaurant than online. The food was bland and the oxtails were overcooked and chewy. Wast of time and money. View all feedback.
IT WAS TWO BLACK GIRLS (I AM BLACK MYSELF) THEY CHARGED ME 25$ FOR AN OXTAIL PLATE AND GAVE ME A PLATE FULL OF RICE AND A LITTLE PORTION OF OXTAILS A BABY COULD EAT SO MOSLTY A BIG PLATE OF RICE FOR 25$ THIS IS NOT A PLACE TOO SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THEY ARE ROBBING PEOPLE!! THE TWO MALE GUYS GAVE ME A GOOD PLATE THE FIRST TIME I EVER CAME BUT THE TWO GIRLS ARE DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD FIT TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE
This is a small family owned and operated business or what I like to call a hole in the wall. You can dine in or carry out but there 's really no structure. The counter is in the back of the building so you don 't know whether to seat yourself or order at the counter. We usually go to the counter and then seat ourselves but they never ask if we 're dinning in or carrying out so our food is always served in take out containers regardless. The atmosphere is quiet. There 's no ambiance but it is peaceful. The amount of food you get for your money is impeccable and it tastes great. You can serve 2 people with one plate. We ordered j chicken and curry chicken. Both platters are served with peas and rice as well as mixed cabbage with vegetables. The peas and rice could have used a tab bit more salt but the flavor was decent enough for me not to add it. The curry chicken is cooked with potatoes so there 's an additional starch added with the curry chicken. The j chicken was smoked to perfection. If I didn 't know better I would 've thought they were pork ribs. The meat was tender and had beautiful pink smoke rings. There was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The pattys are made in a crispy flaky crust with a decent amount of meat inside. We 've tasted other so called authentic Jamaican food however being this place is family owned and operated I believe it 's closer to the island than Ocho Rio which was expensive and didn 't quite capture the taste I was looking for.Don 't take my word for it; compare for yourself.
This was my first visit here but not my last. The food here is amazing. A bit pricey but wonderfully flavorful. I checked the prices online before going so the $40.00 snapper plate took me by surprise. It was however excellent and the family shared so I'm going to call it a win but probably a one-time purchase. We also had the j chicken, oxtails and a beef patty. Again the flavor of all the meals would be hard to beat anywhere. Nice large portions as well. I will definitely be going back (but no snapper -lol).
Kind of dark inside which gives a stale vibe. Food was good. The service was ok but I think they could have been friendlier.Food: 4/5
The Curry Goat was very good the Cabbage was cold, the beef patties was cold and the Oxtails tasted like the were a day or two old and stale. The guy out front was not customer friendly and was on his phone while me and my brother (from out of town visiting) had to ask for a take put container from an employee who happened to be coming out of the kitchen. Mainly because the lack of customer service. I don't think I'll ever return.
