What a cool place! Situated near the attractions around the Liberty Bell, this restaurant offers delicious food at a moderate price. The white tablecloth service and atmosphere make for a memorable dining experience. The building has a lot of history, and they even invite guests to explore other rooms. The restrooms are located on the third floor.
The food at this colonial restaurant was delicious and the drinks were refreshing. The service was excellent, especially thanks to Kelli for taking such good care of us! I really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, while my husband loved the seafood pasta. The desserts, including the creamy vanilla creme brûlée and the peach and ginger cobbler with pecan topping, were the perfect finishing touch to our meal.
We dined in the large and shaded garden. The service was friendly and attentive, but not overwhelming. We enjoyed the seafood pasta special with crabs, scallops, and shrimp, as well as the smoked salmon and smoked trout appetizer served with Irish style soda bread and assorted garnishes. We also had the romaine and Roquefort cheese salad with at least 5 ounces of cheese and a glass of inexpensive wine.

The food is delicious and prepared by the chef using old recipes from the era. The main attraction, Walter Staib is known for a very popular cooking show in the US (A Taste of History), which has been nominated several times and won two Emmy Awards in 2010 and 2012, as seen on the entrance window. The building is not original, unfortunately, as it has burned down several times throughout its history, but it has been rebuilt thanks to exact plans that have been preserved. Therefore, a pleasure for the eyes and the palate!
It's worth visiting this restaurant in Philadelphia, very close to the historic area, the first congress, etc. Both the house and the decoration maintain the essence of the Independence era, the waiters are also dressed accordingly, as well as the tableware and pewter pitchers for drinks. The food is also quite good, very tasty.
