My husband and I just had a fabulous lunch at Walla! We shared an awesome Greek salad and the house smoked pastrami sandwich, picture attached I hope! The pastrami was served on a delicious focaccia bun, with homemade pickles, tomato with onion & olives, au jus, Dijon mustard & a lovely hot sauce whose name I forget. Everything is homemade & made to order so super fresh & delicious. Give it a try: you won't be disapp... View all feedback.
So, my wife and I were visiting our son and his wife (and new grand-son) in Penticton this past June. One day he says "Dad... I'm going to take you for the best smoke meat sandwich you ever had". Well that's saying something because after spending 32 years in the Canadian Forces, I have eaten a gazillion smoked meat sandwiches across this beautiful country and in many, many others. Well, he was right, Bar-None the BEST smoked meat sandwich (and borsch) I've ever had. I am not going to delve into a litany of platitudes about how great this establishment is, it's already been done by numerous previous reviews. But please, take my word, here is a very proud gentleman who takes great pains in a labour of love to prepare for his customers a great, great meal.Thank you Benjamin for what you do, it was a privilege to dine with my family at your cafe.

We just bought one of each of the bourekas, one of each of the pastries, one Rye bread and focaccia buns from Walla at market. The boureka pastry (buttery, puff pastry) is unbelievable. It is so good and the fillings (pastrami, chicken liver, cheese/dill, mushroom curry, spinach /feta, potato/caramelized onions), well let's just say there is a filling to satisfy all. My partner and I have been nibbling our bourekas all morning and into the afternoon (the bourekas are going to feed us for breakfast, lunch and dinner today). We even ordered frozen ones to take with us as we continue our journey across Canada. I can only say that having driven from Quebec through to BC, we have not found a bakery that even compares to this one. Thankfully, now that we are back in BC, I know that I can order all the goodies to be mailed :)
A gourmet adventure every time...love the cosy bistro and the friendly staff and the food is made from scratch and delicious...my choice for healthy eating
The bread is so good, the staff friendly and helpful, the aromas appetizing, and my belly gets very happily filled every week with their delicious offerings! On Saturdays we stop by and fill our bags with hot Bourekas, beautifully made pastries, loaves of bread made with long-fermentation dough, and friendliness! The owner Benjamin, his wife Sharon, and all of their helpers are wonderful, kind people who care very much about making great food and bringing it to the people. The bread/dough is slow-raised for three days, encouraging the growth of nourishing active cultures, therefore the bio-availability of the nutrients in the bread is very high. It is dense and flavourful, made in the "old world" style. It's hard to find perfectionists in any food business, especially in breads and bakeries, and their hard work and dedication to their craft is appreciated! My kids love the Bourekas and Focaccia buns (so do we!), and of course the selection of delicious desserts are top-notch. Look out, the flourless chocolate cakes will have you drooling for more!Thank you, Walla Family, for bringing your passion for bread to Penticton!
