What User doesn't like about The Alma Inn:
So upset after our meal at The Alma ! We have just paid £102 which included two fillet steaks which were cremated in the kitchen tasted burnt. We quietly made our views known but were presented with a meal for the full amount even...though the steaks tasted horrible . The accompanying veg were also burnt . View all feedback.
Friendly reception, great eating, good service, beautiful place, really liked the open fires, what more they want.
I and a friend visited here during a short break in the opposite. my friend had the squid and chips he said that the teig on the fish was the best he ever had and really enjoyed his meal. I had the nasi goreng that was a lunch special and must say it was amazing. the cook here really knows how to cook. the prices are something on the high side, but they expect that in a really beautiful place like the alma. the personal was friendly and service was good. we will definitely visit again when in the opposite.
Have been driven to signs for this place several times, but never seen it; its actually not on emmott lane, so if they use sat nav, it will never find. it is actually located on hill lane (which connects to emmott lane). first impressions .very beautiful, looks warm and attracts from the outside; and the inner is also beautiful; fantastic huge lights hanging in an open shiny style conservatory. service was good; very friendly and helpful; good selection of food and drinks; in the rule a 4/5 evaluation so far. I do not eat meat so always expect a menu to be limited for me; without 3 fish dishes there were only 1 no meat choice persian courgette sound nice and around 5p short £16 I expected some substantial talk about disappointing what arrived, 1 culinary in half lengths cut on a brow of cousin and a dribble of some tasteless white sauce laid. I'm not cooking, but I could have rusted something exactly the same home for less than £5. we were a party of 4 and the other 3 had variable dishes. the battered haddock at £16.50 was in the ground fish and chips with exalted, even if it were from the local chippy it would be closer to £10. the 2 other main thing seemed reasonable price-performance ratio. I thought maybe we were unhappy with our choice of pornstars so we chose some puddings; again a 50/50 result. schwamm pudding costs 5p short £8 could have come from a £3 zinn. but the dark chocolate fondant was very nice, but cost 5p short £9 was too expensive. So, finally, she expects this place to pay the best price for very average food. I'm sorry, but I won't eat here again if I'm paying £32 for a pornstar and pudding it must be above average in taste / quality / size.
One of the most friendly pubs I have ever stayed in, wonderful staff that could not do enough for them and fabulous breakfast with beautiful fresh food. I will return.
We were down last year and enjoyed our stay so much we came down again this year. This time we extended our stay. Its been an absolute delight. From start to finish. Our rooms were perfect. Products amazing!!! Food to die for. We spend a...lot of time knitting our projects. Andy , the manager was so lovely with his staff. So refreshing to see. Courtney and Anyela helped us with our food selection. They were most knowledgeable. William , behind the bar helped with the drinks. I can't praise them highly enough. We will be down again next year can't wait.
