Best Chinese takeout in Durham. Sesame Chicken with pork-fried rice, egg-roll and egg-drop soup were all good. Still make the great crispy fried noodles (instead of the gross bagged factory-made ones that other places are starting to use) and comes with fortune cookies. Great cooking and ingredients. What Mary Ann Slacke doesn't like about China Star:
We tried dinner this evening. The entrees were good (sesame chicken, fried shrimp) but the sides were not. Boneless spareribs were so dried out and hard as to be inedible. Crab Rangoon were also disappointing. The fried noodles were inedible as well due to a chemical odor. There's lot of choices locally so we'll skip this place next time. View all feedback.
I had an outstanding experience at China star The food was incredibly delicious, and the service was top notch. I loved the stylish and atmospheric interior, complete with a sleek bar area and spacious tables perfect for large groups. During my dinner visit, the appetizers were mouth watering, and the Pork Belly Banh Mi was a standout super savory and expertly caramelized. I highly recommend trying it! Overall, I 'm definitely coming back for more.
This place has been my family’s go-to but after the pricing went up we barely go but we still enjoy either food everytime ??

Schezuan and Hunan are my top choices, friendly and attentive owners.
