What Luciana Szekely doesn't like about California Diner:
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat on a Thursday, mid day. Fairly empty and quiet. First impression, appeared very clean. Disappointed in the size of the menu it was basically a foldover, nothing like any other Diner with unlimited options. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Corned Beef Hash. Served on an English muffin, layer of Corned Beef hash, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. Pretty good. Home fries were cooked... View all feedback.
I used to frequent this diner often, but I have noticed a decline in the quality of their food. While it may be a decent option for late-night munchies at 3am, the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato I ordered was mediocre at best, with an excessive amount of salt. The service staff were friendly, but the kitchen could use some improvement. It's a shame because the people are nice. If I were to visit again, I would stick to simpler options like french toast, waffles, or pancakes and avoid anything else on the menu. It's time to move on from this place.
I recently went to the California diner for breakfast, hoping for a great experience. However, I was completely disappointed. The home fries seemed stale, some were burnt while others were not even cooked. The eggs were also undercooked. The waitress was friendly, but overall I was not satisfied with my meal. I think I'll be taking a break from this diner for a while.

My husband had the Hamburger Patty melt with bacon and crispy onions, he enjoyed it. Food was decent, Katherine was our server, very pleasant. Based on the limited menu, we're not curious enough to return and try dinner.
My favorite diner in Patchogue and their food is outstanding.
