Pound by Todd English - Pasig

The ambiance and interiors (not to mention the name) feel high class. We were expecting a pricey menu but were quite pleased that the prices are reachable, especially when they gave us the $1 menu. First was the pomodoro from the $1 menu. Small serving of course, but tasted great and very much a good deal for the P50, in my opinion. Then I had the Pound for Pound from the regular menu while my boyfriend had the double patty cheeseburger. The double patty burger looked divine. The pound for pound, however, was slightly disappointing on first sight as the serving seemed small. On to the taste- I guess I might have had high expectations, (and who wouldn't with the celebrity chef's name attached?) but I felt like it should've been better. It was "okay", but Todd English should be "good or great" and not just "okay", shouldn't it? The most obvious factor, and I've seen this mentioned in other reviews here as well, is that the patty lacked the level of saltiness or seasoning we Filipinos are accustomed to. In other words, it was a little bland. Although, to their credit, you can really taste the quality of the beef used. I had a gruyere cheese add on, which I forgot about since it was razor thin, and had to check my photo after eating to confirm that it was there. The flavor combination of the chicken slider just didn't work for me. It's probably just an issue of preference but it tasted "Asian style " like it had Teriyaki sauce. Just wasn't expecting that based on the item description on the menu. Even my seared Foie Gras wasn't able to save them. It wasn't a bad experience, but for the price and the reputable name, our expectations just weren't met. Sadly, my bf and I might never go back until they start reading reviews and make some changes, especially since there is another burger joint nearby that better satisfies our burger cravings in the meantime. However, I will go back for that P50 tasty pomodoro. ????

It’s been a while since I last visited Pound by Todd English. Of course, during this “comeback”, I ordered my fave Bacon and Egg Sliders. Overall taste and texture is consistent, very similar to how I tasted it before. However, I just noticed one thing. For this visit’s order, they had smaller egg servings inside each piece. Also tried their Todd English Poutine. It tastes good but little cloying once you had too much of it so make sure to share it with whoever's with you.

We ordered the sliders and fries (not in photo) and had an extra serving because the serving portion was a bit small. I enjoyed the texture of the sliders with a good balance of meat and veggies although the bun was a bit oily for my liking. Our visit was during their soft opening so it's understabdable. I love the moscow mule mugs, cutlery and pitcher!!! If they were situated in a more private setting, I would have given a higher rating.

The food was great. I had the bacon and egg sliders and truffle fries on the side. I was surprised their ketchup had a generous amount of truffle oil, too! ???? The staff were accommodating and the price was okay.
