Oh my God! I almost hesitate to write this review because I worry that when restaurants become too popular, they might compromise their quality to meet the demand. However, this place serves such simple, fresh, and incredibly tasty food that I have to share my experience. Each dish was carefully and expertly prepared. The flavor from the charcoal grill really shines through; I absolutely love that smoky taste—it make... View all feedback.
What Mike S doesn't like about Sahara:
I've eaten at Sahara hundreds of times. I've since moved from Pasadena, but whenever I get back to town, I make a pilgrimage here. On one of those trips I discovered Sahara had been sold. I was crushed. This had been a favorite restaurant for decades. Losing the previous owners was like losing family. But the good news was the food actually improved! It was always fresh, healthy, and delicious here. Now? Even more so... View all feedback.
Friendly, good food, plenty of seating, fast service. However, a little bit expensive at $17 for my plate. It includes 2 beef skewers, rice, tabouli, hummus and pita with good amount of each. So actually, maybe it IS worth it for $17. Factor in $2-3 tip tho because of their good table service. Making the total $20.
Delicious. Reasonable pricing for an amazing combo filled with flavor. Generous portions without going over the top The service is well with the trip alone. The location is clean, open and they have an A/C that works well. Gave this place a try. We are used to driving to Zankou, but they have become too commercial and their customer service has taken a huge hit. We even ordered a combo to take to our daughter's house on our way home. We are tough critics and this place rocks. Thank you! Very tasty. We can't wait to return.
First thing when we walked in was the delicious aroma of meats cooking. It made my mouth water. The restaurant is clean and the staff very friendly. I got the khash-khash kabob, my partner got the Lula kabob. The staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming. We were just lucky to find the place when we got off the freeway looking for food. Now we will be stopping when we're passing through Pasadena.
Sahara is really good home-style Armenian/Middle-Eastern restaurant. It is not a beautiful place, but it is a clean and comfortable place to have lunch or dinner with your friends and family. The meat is delicate, the rice is well cooked, the salads are super fresh and the lentil soup is secret and warm. The price is also quite good! Try it when you're here!
This restaurant is fantastic. We ordered a few chicken skewer plates and the portion sizes were generous. The chicken was very juicy and well seasoned. One of ladies convinced me to try a Lebanese beer instead of a Heineken and I was pleasantly surprised. All of the staff here was extremely kind, I would definitely recommend it and will return!
