As of today, I can tell that this is a notch above any mexican restaurant I've tried in Paris. It's a hidden gem (hard to find) but the cuisine is very tasty, the ambiance is trendy (not Mexican-like looking place) and the service was perfect. I took two "starters" as my main plate plus a dessert and I was full. Try the corn cake to finish. Awesome. View all feedback.
What Ewald Dach doesn't like about Isla Calaca:
the reality is that my assessment has a very personal nature. especially eating, ambiente and service are very good. The reality is that my assessment has a very personal nature. especially eating, ambiente and service are very good. Unfortunately, as a true fan of paxia in mexiko, I expected the same experience regarding food taste. Unfortunately it wasn't. the same for me. flavors are very good, but with a raffinesse that is probably an adjustment for the local taste. I recommend the place but found it right to give a middle range rating to help others not go to the restaurant and know the cooking style from the mexico city restaurants and be disappointed. I hope that explains my point. I'm sorry, a nostalgic mexican expects different! will go again and try to see other courts whether my opinion changes.
We spent a very good time in this restaurant: tacos are delicate, guacamole has apple tips (it is fresh and original), the wine is good, the frame is very nice and the waitress is pleasant.2 small flats: the service is slow while there is not a big world in the room and the coffee is really, but really not good!In conclusion, it is a little expensive but it is worth it anyway!
Isla calaca is a restaurant located in the 9th in a pretty quiet little street. nicely decorated restaurant, good music and nice atmosphere. What a disappointment for what we find in the plate! dishes are not generous and are generally insipid. Where are the flavors, the sauces? carnitas tacos with small meat cubes. I admit I've never seen this in the mexico. Too bad, but basically, if you're looking for a Mexican restaurant, go your way.
After reading the very favorable reviews on this site I wanted to test this Mexican with friends.Very well welcomed we take place in the large room, with simple decoration in a somewhat noisy atmosphere. We command and disappointment begins: the fish of my entry was literally frozen so returned to the kitchen, to follow tacos are good without more, the very ordinary chocolate dessert. In short, in search of a true Mexican restaurant, disappointment was great. As to the so-called authenticity of the dishes she made a smile one of the guests who had lived for several years at the mexico.
Sub-vide subway. decor worthy of an operating room. Where's the Mexican charm? still people who sell a concept. First cook. an indecent addition to quality. a avoid!
