We were hungry and walking down Rideau Street towards Parliament Hill wondering where we would eat. We had mentioned that Indian would be nice. Suddenly we noticed a wonderful spicy smell wafting around one building. We entered and had a wonderful, wonderful meal. The food and service were above and beyond expectation. The place is on my list for the next trip to Ottawa! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Saffron Restaurant:
I like Persian food so was disappointed that this place wasn't better. I came on Monday for the vegetarian buffet. It was late coming out and not very hot. The food was unremarkable. The service was polite but very inattentive. It was as if they had forgotten they were running a restaurant. View all feedback.
The Saffron restaurant has been renovated and enlarged and is now called Links, run by the same management. The menu is Canadian casual dining. We have been there twice recently and both times the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The first time my husband had fish and chips which were excellent. I ordered the smoked meat sandwich with salad for $5.95 It was very good and more than enough food for my dinner. The second time my husband had fettuccine Alfredo which was as good as he has had anywhere. My friend and I had the Wednesday special - chicken (or steak) fajitas for $9.99 They were delicious with all the fixings. We could each eat only half so brought the rest home to have another day.It is a terrific place for a casual meal out. We hope it becomes a popular neighbourhood restaurant.

It has closed! But the owner open a pub bar instead and the food is good they have a good selection of beer. They also have two pool tables
New to Persian cuisine, my family often wondered what The Saffron restaurant offered to residents and tourists in Ottawa. The location on Rideau street is a bit off the main part of downtown and the exterior appearance is not fancy but you're there to enjoy authentic Iranian cuisine and it's delicious and healthy. Saffron is a nice treat. The signature Persian basmati rice with yellow saffron is fresh and soooo good! The combo kabob dinner is an excellent value but my favourite is the Gormeh Zabzeh stew. The restaurant is run by a lovely family and the Mrs can not do enough to make sure you are fed well and satisfied. We visit Ottawa a few times a year and make a point of ordering Saffron each chance we get. Merci!
