Contribute FeedbackThe Big Easy in Ottawa has received mixed reviews from customers. Some diners were disappointed with the lack of ambiance and mediocre food for the price. Others were impressed with the excellent meal and service, but found the prices for wine to be shocking. However, many patrons raved about the eclectic and unique menu, recommending dishes such as the Sesame Encrusted Tuna, Beef Tartare, and Steak and Scallops. Overall, while some found the prices to be a bit high, most agreed that the delicious food and friendly staff make the Big Easy a worthwhile dining destination.
Everything we ordered was amazing and the staff are all friendly. We had two kids in our group and they went above and beyond to make sure the kids enjoyed their food. They let them taste a sample of the sauce to know if they liked it. Will visit again.
Wonderful food - their calamari is our new favourite; steak and scallops were both melt-in-your-mouth. Service was very pleasant and perfectly attentive (not too much, not too little.) Perhaps a little pricy, but left feeling it was worth it.
Recently went for our anniversary dinner on a Sunday night. I dont believe they were expecting so many people because the poor server was run off her feet tending to every table in the place but did manage to dish out good service.Menu is good not too many choices but standard classic New Orleans fare. It is pricy - wine by the glass especially - wow. also we ordered the Oyster Rockfeller which were $18 for 6 oysters and they were ok but nothing extra ordinary. My husband had the blackened salmon - was very good and I ordered the fried chicken - which is more baked than fried and had a very rich sauce over it - it was good but so very rich. We had pecan pie for dessert which we shared and I had a specialty coffee. After all was said and done it was close to $200. Again pricy but the atmosphere and the staff are very nice.
The meal and service were excellent. BUT their prices for a glass of wine are ridiculous. I was in shock today -- no other restaurant in Ottawa (even the most expensive) ever charged $19.00 for a glass of pino grigio. I am a retired senior on a fixed pension ... not in a gazillion years have I or ever would have paid such a ridiculous price -- because of that I will never go back again.VERY UPSETTING.
We stopped in for a quick bite to eat on the way to the airport and the food was outstanding. Oysters were fresh and tasty with delicious sauces. Beef tartare was one of the best I've had in the city, Montreal and Toronto. The scallops dinner dish was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. Service was quick and nice. This was my first trip to Big Easy's, certainly won't be the last.
