Dr. Yoon Kimchi - Ottawa

Best kimchi in Ottawa. dr Yoon is very gracious, she makes the best extra spicy kimchi. 100% recommend

I only discovered Dr. Yoon Kimchi thanks to Amanda B here on Yelp! And I 'm so happy that I did! The kimchi is great! I got 3 big 900g tubs to share with my brother and dad, who are long-time kimchi lovers. I was late to the party and only recently got into fermented foods, more for the health benefits, but the taste of kimchi is growing on me. I got the Original Baechoo Kimchi $12.99), the Vegan Baechoo Kimchi $13.99) and the Baek Kimchi $12.99). The original is the usual kimchi. It was mildly spicy, a bit salty and had a good crunch to it. The vegan one is similar to the original one except it doesn 't have any anchovy paste in it and has more vegetable umami. I found the vegan one saltier and I liked it less. I was hoping that the vegan one would be less salty, but it was actually more salty, at least to my tastebuds : The Baek Kimchi is like the original one but with zero spiciness. I got this to try and also to see if my little nieces would like it. They love pickles and olives, so I figured they might like non-spicy kimchi, which I think would be healthier than pickles and olives. They refused to try it, but that is more a reflection of them being kids, than anything about the kimchi, lol). Dr. Yoon Kimchi tastes better than commercial mass- produced kimchi for sure. I purchased online on the website and got free local delivery since my order was over $30. Orders under $30 are subject to a $5 delivery fee, or you can pick up for free not sure of the location but it 's in Ottawa). Her products are also available at Win Tai Grocery. They used to be available at Kowloon Grocery, but not sure if they still are. Dr. Yoon delivered my kimchi herself. She is super nice and courteous. She gave me tips like the importance of not contaminating the container always use clean utensils to get the kimchi and not to put removed leftover kimchi back into the original container). Also as you go through the container to push down the remaining contents so it is all submerged in the liquid. If you like kimchi and live in the NCR, I would definitely recommend Dr. Yoon Kimchi.

Dr Yoon's kimchi is easily the best kimchi in the Ottawa area. I've gone to many different locations throughout the city looking for fresh, authentic kimchi and this seller has all of them beat! What's more, Dr Yoon is kind and accommodating; and willing to go the extra mile to ensure her customers are happy. I am also impressed that she offers a vegan version of her kimchi (without fish products) for vegans and those with fish allergies. I am writing this review to get the word out as I believe many people would so appreciate her delicious and healthy kimchi!

Locally found in OTTAWA! Kimchi crunch, delish and worth every Penny! For those of us hooked on the probiotic benefits we couldn't be more in love with Dr Yoon kimchi both ORIGINAL and EXTRA SPICY. There is a lovely sweet note to this home made variation that can't be found in the bland Factory made versions. Thank you Dr Yoon! We will be back again and again it's kimchi everything

Ever since I became independent, I resorted to making my own kimchi after getting disappointed by kimchi sold in markets. They are either too expensive or too sweet and/or salty. After tasting Dr. Yoon Kimchi, I wanted to personally thank Dr. Yoon for holding high standards for kimchi snobs out there. I drank the Kkakdugi sauce like it was dessert. Baechoo kimchi tastes fresh, crispy and savory. I also read every single ingredient and there is no ingredient that you can 't identify or pronounce. The website was not joking around when it advertised hella refreshing!
