Best Donairs in town! Nothing beautiful, just one kind of donair meat, but it's extremely good! Quality and service at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is always fresh and hot. Good selection of drinks. Definitely worth the stop if you are looking for a tasteful fast bite to eat!! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Down East Donairs:
So not my favourite location! They need to find a better way to deal with customers to get them in and out of the store faster since limit is only two! I would call ahead and order! The portion can be a little bigger for the price they have different sizes but only difference is amount of meat you get. So basically you are paying per pound! Staff was friendly. There was a wide favourite of specialty pops 2.30 a can. View all feedback.
I tried my first Donair from their food truck yesterday for lunch and already wanted another one for dinner. The owners are extremely kind too!! : 10/10
Being an east coaster living in Ontario, finding this place was a little taste of home. The donairs are fantastic and the staff are vary friendly. I also love they funky drink selection they have. Mango Pepsi... didn't even know that was a thing till I visited here.
We stopped by the food truck during the opening of Fiesta week. I hadn’t had a Donair before. Wow! It was Bursting with flavour and so delicious, right down to the last bite ! A very friendly father-daughter duo ! Thanks again !
Visit every time we are down in the area. They have the best authentic East coast donairs . They not only use the proper ingredients, the meat texture is bang on, crisp with just the right kick. They prepare it with a nice base oil like sauce that drips with flavourful heavenly goodness that soaks into the pita, prepared to perfection. The smell, oh that smell! reminds me of authentic souvlaki from street vendors in Athens Greece, Kypseli square. The kind where the chef uses sharp knives to slice off crispy chunks of a lamb and beef mix from a spit over an open flame, wrapped with chunks of onion in wax paper. Not the same exact taste, these donairs are Godliness in their own category, but the smell brings me back there time and time again. There is nothing like eating something that smells so good. The only thing I would like to see them change is the thickness of the sauce. It's perfectly tasting authentic sweet Donair sauce, only too thin. They need to thicken it up a bit. Please do but if you don't, who cares, it won't stop me from getting a piece of heaven every time I'm in the Whitby area.
On one visit, I came and ordered a wrap and it was very small. On my second visit, I just asked him if they sell the donair beef on its own because I like to make it my way. The guy and two other people who seemed to be the owners started acting as if I was asking for something illegal, “why do you want it without bread?”, “is it you the one who recently opened a restaurant down the street serving donairs and you need it for your restaurant?”, for gods sake, if you are that concerned and cautious, that clearly means you have no confidence in what you are serving, last time and never again. Looking forward to see this place shutting down one day as its customer service is literally a ZERO.Update: A response to the owner, you mean it can never happen in any restaurant but your restaurant : The reviews from other customers does prove that I am not lying which literally shows your character
