I have had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant several times over the years and the food is always great! Whether getting take away or dining in or on the incredible patio the staff that have served us are all very attentive, friendly and above all welcoming! The lady that serves us most often and we have gotten to know and appreciate is Tanya and she is a fantastic server... ONH is very fortunate to have her o... View all feedback.
What L T doesn't like about The Old Newcastle House Taps & Grill:
Booked a reservation 3 days in advance. Arrived and they couldn't find it. They got us in. Ordered the house wine. It was like vinegar. We order to stirfry with a side of shrimp. Received a bowl of rice, hardly any vegetables in it and a skewer of cold shrimp. Not worth the money! We didn't complain as they are greatly understaffed. The waitress was rude and didn't become nice until she saw we were still leaving her... View all feedback.
The restaurant is situated on Highway 2, with limited parking. I suggest checking the rear for spots if none are available on the highway. The appetizers were lacking in quantity, although the taste and quality were good. There weren't enough chips for the amount of dip provided. Typically, this place is slow, so it's not ideal for visiting when hungry. However, this time the waitress was quick and attentive. The WiFi connection is strong and easy to access. Additionally, they have a great selection of local craft beers on their drink menu. It felt like hitting the jackpot!
Despite the positives of the beautiful terrace and well-separated tables with wooden dividers, we were quite disappointed with the food. The waitress who served us was excellent, friendly, and made us feel welcome. I ordered the steak sandwich and fries, while my wife ordered the butter chicken wrap. Unfortunately, there were burnt parts of chicken in my wife’s wrap and my steak sandwich was mostly fat and gristle with very little edible meat. The waitress apologized and offered to replace our meals, but after a disappointing experience, I had lost my appetite. She made sure we were not charged for the meal, but all I wanted was a decent meal at this pub, which they failed to deliver. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
My husband, two children, and I went out to dinner last night. The service was okay, but the food was quite disappointing. I ordered the salmon with seasonal vegetables and a side of Caesar salad. The salad was overdressed but tasty, while the seasonal vegetables consisted of only three pieces of bland, boiled broccoli. After finishing my salad, I started on the salmon only to realize it was undercooked. We informed the server, who was apologetic and offered to replace the dish or remove it from our bill. Due to the slow service and our restless children, I opted to just pay the bill. However, when we received it, they had only taken $10 off the $19 salmon. I ended up paying $9.46 for a mediocre salad and broccoli that I didn't even eat. Overall, we were not impressed with the restaurant and will not be returning.
27. juli 2022 I ate in the house with my son. we had the other woman burger with caesar salad and the mushroom, wobbly Swiss burger with fries. they were both so delicious, definitiw the best burgers in the city! as always the service was friendly, efficient. and very appreciated. for those who enjoy eating outside, they have a perfect terrace. we'll be back to another great meal. P.S. they have also served their newcastle dairy tag on their rear parking, the ingenious ice cream in so many amazing aromas.
We stopped for a late lunch at the Old Newcastle House Tap and Grill on our drive from Toronto to Kingston. My Tap and Grill burger was very tasty and my husband enjoyed his Buffalo chicken sandwich. The ambience was quaint and the staff friendly....A very good lunch stop!
