What a refreshing experience. Food for me is all about flavor and authenticity, and can find both of hem right here. It 's unfortunately so easy and common to find some ok/middle of the road Mexican restaurant, who do not give any credit to this very flavorful cuisine. But here, from the pozole, to the barbacoa enchiladas, and the tamale just to mention few of the items we had for lunch, everything was right on. I ha... View all feedback.
What Scott Meyer doesn't like about Frida's:
Food was pretty tasty and good-size portions. Staff is drab, non-smiling and seem bored. Asked our server 3 times fie extra napkins and more chips before they arrived. How about this item on our bill... No Shrimp $5.00. Apparently, they are at least upfront about charging for items that you did not order. View all feedback.
Pretty bland food, shrimp tastes like cardboard and steak was oddly sweet but otherwise flavorless. Mushy, and unseasoned rice. Wife ordered a dish described as Sautéed W/ Garlic, Wine and Pesto and it came as just a marinara with no distinctive notes of a pesto. Mahi in the dish was over cooked and rather than being flaky as a well cooked fish should be, it came out as tough and shredded like chicken and overcooked chicken at that. I ordered the Land and Sea Burrito and it suffered from all the previously described shortcomings as well as just being a mostly homogenous mess with no distinction between the different flavors the dish SHOULD have. The argument could be made that we ordered the wrong dish and that this was an unfair assessment. But why have the dish on the menu in the first place if the ingredients used in it are so low velocity that when a meal DOES go out that quality just suffers inherently from old product from a freezer being used? Cut down the huge menu and stick to a few things you MAY actually do well and just elevate those dishes to be even more incredible. Waitress was OK but did not seemed concerned that either of us only took a few bites. I do not recommend and I really don 't complain about even mediocre meals but this was just awful. Take your money somewhere with a better vibe and fresher food like Dahlia

But here, from the pozole, to the barbacoa enchiladas, and the tamale just to mention few of the items we had for lunch, everything was right on. I had a craving for some good, freshly made, tasty cuisine and Frida defenitly delivered it. Not to mention the very kind and attentive service. Oh I almost forgot, what a great cocktail spicy rosa I really recommend this one.
We stumbled on this place on a Taco Tuesday and we were hooked, going back again the following Tuesday. The tacos are really unique and you can?t beat the specials prices. The margarita flight is a nice add-on to complete the experience.
Should've paid attention to the red flags and walked away before sitting down Red Flag #1 Saturday night 6pm ish parking lot nearly empty Red Flag #2 Very few tables had patrons and of the 4 that did, 3 were older white people. The table salsa was horrible, all we could taste was tomato sauce and salt. Ordered the queso which wasn't a whole lot better, it was lackluster and bland but at least it wasn't swimming in salt. The Pork Carnitas which even though Carnitas means little meats, is made from pork so basically you're ordering Pork Pork, was also exceptionally salty and no other flavor could be tasted, not even the bell pepper. Normally saffron rice has a lovely smokey flavor, this rice could've EASILY been the Cilantro/Lime Rice that Vigo's makes with yellow food coloring. There was an entire onion on the plate, barely even cut apart, most of the veggies weren't even al dente they were still raw. If there was any avocado salsa on the plate it couldn't be detected. The guacamole was salty as well. This dish had nothing going for it due to the high salt content. The tortillas that came in aluminum foil in the normal tortilla dish were cold and obviously just pulled from their package. The Fajita Del Ray Bowl had absolutely nothing going for it. Other than the most minimal flavoring on the steak, this bowl had absolutely zero flavor. The beans, rice, peppers, onion, even the guac ... There was nothing happening here. I had the waitress bring me lime just to make it slightly palatable. I don't believe in all my years and the countless Mexican restaurants I've eaten in across the country and in Mexico have I ever had pickled onion on my plate. I watched someone make the guacamole at another table and actually counted out 3 seconds of them using a salt grinder. This is bad TexMex crossed with What Were You Thinking? The Chef inside me is kicking my butt for not running at the red flags, the general consumer in me is thinking you've lived here 3 years and h
Love the new menu for this location. Ensure to ask for extra mole and house hot sauce. The meals were cooked very well, excellent service. Chili Verde and enchiladas are a hit for sure. Definitely will make another visit to explore the menu. Only down side for me was no Medelo negra on tap , but had especial so not a complete upset.
