Amazing friendly service, hard to find these days. The homemade baking is wonderful, had cream cookies and muffins the best. Soup of the day was so tasty also. A huge menu and fantastic value with it. Clearly a bit of a hub for the locals...to chat too. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Pomona Cafe:
I really have no words. The whole experience was horrible, certainly NOT a typical Orkney cafe. Women behind counter does not need to go on customer care course she just needs to GO. View all feedback.
The most unhelpful woman I’ve ever come across!! I placed an order and she refused to take the drinks order until I told her what food we wanted. I ordered a roll and chips and when the food came, I got a plate of chips, no roll. She put the pots of tea on a tray but the milk and sugar were on a tray at the counter. I asked her if I could take the tray to my elderly parents and she said yes. I returned with the tray and she said to my brother who was still at the counter “well you won’t be needing this then!!” As she started to pour a jug of milk. She was sharp, rude and had a I couldn’t be bothered with you kind of attitude. I’ll never set foot in that place again. You pay for food and a service there’s no need to be obnoxious and rude to customers WHO ARE PAYING MONEY!!

Instant coffee was decent make and cake was tastly very cheap both came at under £4 lady behind counter was friendly too. I was shocked to see woman in cafe with her cat ? It was happy on her lap i have seen this a few times in orkney and always surprises me
I have never been in such a strange Café where the staff only spoke to their friends and completely ignored the only two people waiting to be served for 20 minutes. When we got up to leave the waitress finally spoke did you want something?
We arrived after 50 miles cycling in the rain, we were fed, and tumble dried and smiled at and made very welcome, even though we smelt like damp dogs in Lycra !! Thankyou so much for your great hospitality. Pete Jim
