Aroma Italian Restaurant - Okotoks

I don’t know where to begin. We stood at the front for 4-5 minutes before anyone appeared and were instructed to sit anywhere. We had to pass over 6 tables as they clearly hadn’t been wiped down, we chose the table with the least mess. It took a good 10 minutes to place our order and then we awaited our drinks. Lukewarm coffee and “hot chocolate” and then waited another 5 minutes for cream and sugar. The wife had to ask for her drink a second time. We were the only patrons so there was no excuse for poor service. At the time we received our drinks, two other groups arrived. One group got tired of waiting and left, the other received their meal long before we got ours. The pizza and lasagna were acceptable but my calzone got a few bites and I had lost my appetite. Between the flies, the unique music mix of country and hip-hop and the arctic temperatures it was not a very comfortable environment. Do yourself a favour and go to McDonald’s.

That horrible review is not what we experienced at all. This is the 3rd time my husband ordered the Linguine Tottomare and it was great huge Scallops, Shrimp, and Mussels. Best he has had. My Veal was tender and the pasta was great. Would recommenf it to friends..

Supper was most disappointing. Seated quickly but waited forever to place drink order. The spaghetti and meatballs was nasty. Sauce so bland and meatballs tasted like old reheated meat. No seasoning what so ever.

We had a fantastic meal. The service was friendly and the food was phenomenal. Highly recommended! We had veggie pakoras, vegetarian korma, tandoori basa and garlic naan. Everything was delicious and really fresh. And then we switched to Tiramisu for dessert!

I went to have a nice Italian meal, but was truly disappointed. The noodles were good, but the sauce lacked flavour and thickness. I could've made a better dish, with a canned sauce at home. The appetizer ordered was bruschetta, and well that was disappointing as well. Total lack of flavour, I've been to Italy and tasted great Italian food and I've been to many Italian stores and restaurants in Calgary, they are much better! Perhaps one would be more impressed with the food if they order Indian food as it is served in this restaurant as well. AT least the server we had was excellent, and even she admitted that the food is not what it used to be with the previous owners. Not going back until the restaurant changes hands!
