Contribute FeedbackJohnny Carinos on South Walker is a restaurant that offers a garden variety of Italian dishes, but with their own unique twist. The Italian Nachos and Italian Wedge salad are highly recommended. They do not offer spaghetti with garlic butter, but the Timbalo served in a hot iron skillet is a great alternative. The portion sizes are generous, so be prepared to take leftovers home. Despite some negative reviews about the service and decline in food quality, there are still positive experiences shared by customers who enjoyed the good pasta, great service, and delicious food. Overall, Johnny Carinos is still a decent option for those looking for a casual Italian dining experience with a warm ambiance and tasty desserts.
Arrived Sunday the 23rd at 6 PM. There was a couple that walked in about two minutes before we did. Sign on the door said they were closing at 7 that evening due to kitchen staffing. Again, it was 6, so figured it would be fine. It was just two of us.Walk in, and the lady at the front door said she couldn't seat us because they were closing. We pointed out that the sign said 7, she said it didn't matter, they were closing.Seems unprofessional to close earlier then the sign on the door said. The lack of empathy irritated me the most.
I talked my hubby into taking me for my birthday dinner. Our waiter/bartender was top notch. Never had to ask for anything except a to go box. We are already making plans to go back!Food: 5/5
My husband and I use to love to come here. But since covid. Every restaurant is using CHEAP FAKE materials. The Caesar salad had old pieces of dark shimmy lettuce. Which I think my husband and I got sick on. Both our stomachs where in pain when we left. The chicken scampinni was disgusting. Minus the chicken/ I don't eat meat) You can see right thru, the noodles. Like translucent. Tomatoes old. Everything was old. I didn't even eat it. The bread and garlic stuff was still good. To make things worst. Lord forgive me for saying this. But I'm pregnant. And the waitress was missing all her teeth and spit on my my lip and in mouth twice. I was sooooo grossed out. We will NEVER GO THERE AGIAIN. UGH!! !!!!!!!
When we arrived at 1:00 p.m. for lunch place was pretty empty. We were told that there was a 5-minute wait but yet there was a ton of clean empty tables. We receded at one of these clean Empty Tables so I don't know why we had to wait. After we were seated we waited at least 10 minutes for our waitress to come over to get our drink orders. We were interested in there promoted peach Bellini and when we ordered it they told us that their machine was broke. So we just ordered a water and a tea. After we got our drinks yet again we waited a very long time to get our order taken. While we were waiting the table next to us got their drink order and the waitress didn't know which one was coke or Dr Pepper . So she proceeded to put the cups up to her nose to smell them to figure out which was which . That's highly disgusting . When our salads arrived my Caesar salad was good but my girlfriend's house salad was full of wilted brownish lettuce. We yet again waited an extended amount of time to get our main course, now mind you the restaurant is not busy at all. When our main course arrived my girlfriend's meal was correct. I ordered the spicy shrimp and chicken pasta with no mushrooms. Of course when my food showed up it was covered in mushrooms. So I had to pick all the mushrooms out, good thing I'm not allergic to them. Then for dessert we decided that we would try their tiramisu. Take a guess, that's right they were out of tiramisu at 1:00 p.m. So needless to say we will not be going back for overpriced food and poor service.
We were greeted by a man just saying Three? the number of people in our party) and then he just walked off. We were discussing if we should follow him when he gave us the nod that said this is your table . He was not friendly or welcoming at all. He litterally tossed our silverware on to the table and walked off as we were sitting. As we sat in the booths we were all surprised at how high the table was but then realized just the booths had lost their springs. The whole place just had a run down/not clean feeling. My salad was straight out of a Dole shreded iceburg salad bad. I swear it was. I ordered the Bowtie Party. It was warm, not hot. The pasta was for sure not fresh. It was just disappointing for $22. The Burger ordered to our table was requested a medium but was very well done. The pizza was not great either. Super dry and somehow still doughy in the middle.I was excited to see the sign that said they make their own Tiramisu but when I asked the waitress about it she said all the deserts come in frozen. All in all the price point was something I would expect to get fresh food served. This place was a thaw and microwave type situation for sure.
