We enjoyed a fabulous dinner preceded by wonderful cocktails. The view was beautiful as was the sunset! In regard to Covid there was good spacing between tables and very good ventilation. We will return! View all feedback.
What Katie Baucom doesn't like about The Hobbit:
I was very disappointed in the food at this restaurant. The veal pistachio was mediocre and could easily be made at home, it seemed like a lazy dish. My husband's short ribs in goulash were dry. However, the carpaccio was delicious. Our waiter was fantastic. I don't think we will be returning to this restaurant. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 View all feedback.
We have this fine restaurant absolutely LOVED! The theme, atmosphere, service and food were all top-notch! The Hostess staff opened the door and welcomed us on arrival and when we were taken to our table, we were surprised with a congratulation and bottle of champagne to celebrate our recent engagement on the beach. We ordered the fried green tomatoes to start and it was the best food I had eaten all week in OC. It was hard decision on a duck so that I and my fiancée both ordered the short rib, but after eating there, I am confident I would enjoy everything offered on this menu, seriously! We ordered the house special dessert and a classic crème brûlée to finish the meal while we enjoyed a beautiful view of the beautiful sunset over the bay. We will definitely return to this place, the service and the food were miles better than other fine restaurants choices that we tried earlier in the week while in OC. Thank you for a great experience!
I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! First, the atmosphere is amazing! So warm and welcoming. The view speaks for itself. Second, our waiter Brian was the best! So friendly and knowledgeable. He was attentive and remembered things we had mentioned that we liked. After all, the food was the best food I ever had. We spluged and got the cream of Crab soup, Stuffed Filet and Cream Brule. Everything was fresh, hot and perfectly cooked. The cocktails are great. The Hobbit Sunrise is a much bigger drink than I expected. The Shire Garden Margarita has green paprika in it.
We have a new place for dinner on the beach for the 19. Our son's birthday is trying. 1st off we met traffic of Lewes, DE and we were 10 minutes late for our reservation and they welcomed us as soon as we left and sat no problems. The interior was beautiful, but the view was amazing! We had Keenan as a waiter and he recommended to try drinks, food and desserts. Not only was he very attentive to everything we needed, I wanted a fruity tropical drink and unfortunately I just recently found out that I am allergic to pineapple, so he told the bartender and they made me a very good drink without pineapple juice. I was very grateful for her kindness to find something fruity that did not contain my allergy. Every piece of food we had from the beginning to the end was absolutely delicious! We recommend giving them an attempt.
Great dinner as always, beautiful views and great food. Have been here multiple times?this is a nice break from the typical ?tourist beach restaurant? experience. The food is wonderful, great flavors and presentation, and a very good cocktail and wine list. As there are big glass windows facing the bay, no matter where you are seated you will have a great view, especially as the sun is setting during dinner. Dinner was excellent, portions are nicely sized, and usually come with a small addition of rice or a vegetable. Some of the meals come with a side, others don?t depending on the meal, but you can order from a side selection if you like. A couple issues; one is that because the restaurant is very open to allow everyone views of the bay, the flat windows, walls and ceilings allow conversations to bounce around the room and it is extremely loud with all the tables full and everyone talking. Definitely needs some some professionally placed acoustic sound treatment panels, which would easily take care of the issue and drop the volume significantly. The other was for some reason our white tablecloth looked like it had been balled up before being put on the table?weird because it was so wrinkled it was noticeably distracting. Price is as expected for a nicer beach restaurant? we averaged $70 per person for a meal with cocktails, wine, and desert. Would recommend?definitely! Will we come back?absolutely!
The restaurant was very welcoming and everyone so polite and courteous. The food was outstanding and plentiful. The view was mesmerizing and the atmosphere perfect for what ever occasion you wanted. I had a great night and hope to return for an other great dinner and evening.
