I decided to dine here alone after waiting a long time at the Wood Tavern next door. I believe my experience in Southie was even better than what I would have had at Wood. The staff was incredibly friendly, and my food was delicious. The atmosphere was vibrant yet still professional. I can't recommend dining in Southie enough! View all feedback.

Be cautious if you have a severe peanut allergy! Nearly every dish comes with peanut oil chips, and when I initially mentioned my allergy, the staff claimed there were no peanuts on the premises. I recommend steering clear of this place, as the risk of cross-contamination is significant. On the upside, my friends who aren't allergic to peanuts enjoyed their meals. View all feedback.
After 24 hours traveling from the depths of the Amazon rainforest, dirty, hungry and worn away from the road, Southie provided a shelter that cannot be easily rewritten here. The sandwiches were both top of the class, the potatoes and soup can have been or not the best soup of the decade and the staff was incredibly beautiful and attentive. Overall a complete victory for us. Can?t recommend to come here enough. We?
I came here as a solo diner because there was a long wait at Wood Tavern next door. I think my experience here at Southie exceeded what it would?ve been at Wood. The staff was so kind. My food was delicious. Vibe was laid back but still professional. Can?t recommend dinner at Southie enough.
Literally cannot express just how great these guys are. The service is amazing. The food is fabulous!! Work in the neighborhood, and come up on our lunch break on a semi-regular basis. It?s one of the only places that we can count on for amazing FAST service. So so glad this place is still thriving!!!
Located in Rockridge/North Oakland?, this neighborhood gem ? won 't disappoint. It is also the little sister of Wood Tavern, which is located next door. Before we get to the menu and the food, I need to mention how stylish this place is. Great spot for a mid-day lunch by yourself, with a date, or for a quick business meeting with a nice selection of beers on tap ?? a couple of wine options??. You can sit at the bar, which gives you a high end diner experience w/o the price, the wall area is perfect for a solo lunch, or at the bar to ceiling window which opens directly to the street. Sitting at the bar watching the orders being cooked reminded me of #WaffleHouse (those who know about WF will understand this next point), if WF had an A rating and ????? a high casual vibe, Southie would be it. Now to the food. You can rework anything on the menu to make it into your own remix or even make any of the sandwiches into salads. Either way if it 's on the menu they 'll make it your way. We got the Turkey panini and the fried chicken romaine salad. Wow and and amazing can 't even capture how good the food is here. The salad I got wasn 't the salad I had pictured in my mind (pre-order), but I was more than satisfied with the flavor of the salad that arrived. The fried chicken was amazing, almost reminded me of catfish nuggets. The turkey panini was really good and comes on Acme bread, which I here is another Oakland must-have. Overall would highly recommend checking this place out. You won 't be disappointed.
The food was pretty tasty (Meatball sandwich and Ahi Tuna Sandwich). About $25 for two people to eat, before tax and tip. Fair price overall. The venue is pretty small, so don't be surprised if there's no space. Nothing special about the service (nothing good or bad in particular).
